Following a 2hr voice clinic in Christchurch this weekend, all I can say is ‘WOW’. Just wow!
I’ve worked with @amymarieconsultancy a little over the last 2 years, but this clinic was focused on some of the fine-tuning techniques to get me across the line on some of the issues I’ve been having around vocal tension.
Learning with a medical voice pathologist, who is also a performing artist, is an unbelievable experience. Really getting into the science of the voice is a whole new level and leaves a legacy of excellent vocal practice, not-to-mention, supporting me to become a better voice coach here at @nookroadproductions

1- HYDRATE 💦
ensure you are “systematically hydrated”. Water does not touch your vocal folds when you drink (otherwise you’d choke) so be sure to start hydrating a good 1-2hrs before your vocal presentation.
2- BREATHE 🌬
Imagine you are a bell and your breath is the gonger of your bell. Without supported breath you won’t be able to ring your bell with clarity and resonance.
3- BITE THE APPLE 🍎
Imagine you are biting a yummy big apple and, at the same time, feeling the smile it creates in the back of your throat. This position will help you to achieve a clear, bright and connected quality to your voice. Practice keeping your face nice and relaxed but bringing this smiley flavour to your sound.
