Hi all,
I’d like to introduce you to Matthew Fairbrother – a 19-year-old mountain bike rider from Christchurch, NZ who I’ve had the pleasure to work with recently.
Matthew isn’t your average rider – as well as being one of the most talented and determined blokes I’ve ever met, he also refuses to cut corners on anything. Last summer he rode solo across Spain, France, and Italy, riding up to 24 hours at a time, to compete in the world mountain biking competition, completely unassisted.
After coming back to New Zealand for the mountain-biking rally in Tasman, he decided to take this on completely man-powered, again without any help. He rode for 17 hours daily for six days, ultimately winning the entire event. Josh Morgan, Henry Jane, and myself had the privilege to film the journey from start to finish, making for a thrilling 6 days.
Currently, the team and I are in post-production of a documentary that highlights these extraordinary young man's achievements. Our hope with this documentary is to get it to the Banff Mountain Film Festival (Canada), which is recognised in 40 countries (7 continents), making it the largest adventure film tour on the planet. To this point, the film has been entirely self-funded by us and our sponsors (Mons Royale, Deviate Cycles, POC, Motorex, and Shinamo) but we have reached the point where we can’t bring the film to life without a little help, therefore setting up a crowdfunding space.
The link below contains a trailer and more information around our documentary. Not only do we want to be able to put forward our work in Banff, but we also want to inspire with the extraordinary achievements that Matthew has been able to achieve. Any donations from our crowdfunding space would go towards professional editing, color grading, and audio mixing. Any donations are greatly appreciated and please don’t donate unless you are able to. Even just watching the trailer that we have created would be amazing (and we would love to hear any feedback!).
