Did a thing yesterday. I finally entered my first MTB enduro race. I've put it off for years for various reasons but ran out of excuses - mostly because the GC Girls on Dirt Enduro is such an inclusive, supportive event, and I've watched from the sidelines for too long. Wasn't unhappy about grabbing 6th place in my category (Intermediate 50+) either!
Thanks so much to my support crew Kate Turner-Syme and Monz Turner-Syme who gave me so much encouragement beforehand (and a big ole nudge to enter), and were screaming for me during the race, giving me the last spurt of energy I needed when I ran out on the last hill, then took me out for a celebratory drink and gave me some well-needed post-race care, before heading out for Monz' Birthday dinner. Thanks for giving up your Birthday to support me and everyone else - you're the best cheering crew ever! Big thanks also to Ingrid Marcus for cheering me on from afar and dragging yourself out on cold evenings to help me train!
Julie Phillips - your encouragement and MC skills are legendary - I can always count on you to bring the fun and the banter - thanks for being awesome! Thanks to all the organisers, sponsors, volunteers, photographers and all the other riding queens for making it such an epic day - we all smashed it - woot!
