My house mate and I started talking about the room reno to create Brimstone studios in the middle of 2023. The room existed behind my garage and up until recently, was used as my Drum room where I played and jammed with friends.
However it was smelly and dank, Carpet hung from the walls and insulation panels mounted on the ceiling were low budget attempts to keep the neighbours at bay.
Plans were put in action to begin to strip the 7mm particle board on the walls and replace with 15mm particle board and thick packed insulation in the walls and ceiling.
It was painted and plastered , extra sound reinforcement was added to both doors and fresh new wool carpet was installed. New downlights were added along with 7 twin outlet powerpoints with USB in the surrounding walls.
Custom accoustic sound panels were also made and spaced evenly along each wall in the studio. The ceiling has been lined with thick carpet to also assist in reducing audio reflection too.
A fresh air unit was also installed to allow cool air to circulate when doors are shut.
Large 2.72m seamless paper backdrops were fitted for photography shoots
The Far corner of the room was purpose built to house my drums, music computer, lighting for my drum content and mixing console. We are currently running a 10 port USB interface console with up to 14 mics available. A 16 channel multitrack rack unit is currently next on the list as well as overhead condensers.
I have also built a DJ desk on wheels that is a one piece unit that can be rolled in and out of the studio when we want to host live streams of DJ's whom might want to showcase something before release or in lieu of there next big gig.
I still have many ideas to be adding to the space.
I would ideally like to track full band recordings in here, Do much more studio photography work, deliver better quality audio and video drum content and continue to allow others to showcase themselves in a free and creative way.
