A 28-year-old woman allegedly murdered her six-day-old daughter in west Delhi's Khyala. She strangled her daughter while breastfeeding and then abandoned the infant's body. She also filed a missing complaint to mislead police and evade arrest. Her two daughters had died earlier.

The woman, identified as Shivani, who had now been arrested told the cops that she was facing social stigma for repeatedly giving birth to only girls. It was her fourth daughter who she smothered to death.

The accused Shivani further revealed that she could not sleep after committing the horrific act and wasn't sure what to tell the family members. Hence she told them that the child was missing. The officer said that they had registered a case of murder and placed the accused under arrest.
