Gulf News is Waiheke Island's locally-owned community newspaper. The newspaper was established in 1973 and has been run by a succession of journalists since then. We have a reputation for in-depth, investigative reporting and have won numerous community involvement awards. In 2005 we were also voted best community newspaper in Auckland by Metro magazine. Over the years, Gulf News has championed nu

merous community causes, from the Man O’ War Bay Road wars of the early 1990s to the planning issues of today, and helped the island become the strong community it is today.
