World Indigenous Broadcasters Network

World Indigenous Broadcasters Network WIBN unites Indigenous broadcasters from around the world to strengthen and promote Indigenous languages, cultures and storytelling.

World Indigenous Broadcasters Network (WIBN)

The World Indigenous Broadcasters Network (WIBN) is a global alliance of Indigenous broadcasters committed to advancing Indigenous storytelling, languages and cultures. Our founding members include Whakaata Māori (New Zealand), National Indigenous Television -NITV (Australia), Aboriginal Peoples Television Network APTN (Canada), NRK Sápmi (Norway) and

Taiwan Indigenous Television TITV (Taiwan). Established in 2008, WIBN is a not-for-profit organisation that fosters collaboration and strengthens the Indigenous media sector through initiatives such as content sharing, training opportunities, staff exchanges and international networking. As members of WIBN, broadcasters are united by a shared commitment: to preserve, promote and revitalise Indigenous languages, cultures and narratives for generations to come.

As 2025 comes to a close, it is a great time to celebrate the long service kaihoe who have recently celebrated 10, 15 and 20 years of service at Whakaata Māori!

What huge achievements! They are pictured here with Whakaata Māori CEO Shane Taurima - who is also the Chairperson of the World Indigenous Broadcasters Network.

Ka mau te wehi! 🖤
