Dongli Village in Fuli Township, Hualien County, is the nation’s first officially recognized Pingpu (Plains Indigenous) community and is also distinctive for the participation of the Hakka people. In early November, the village held its traditional autumn Kaixiang festival, where Pingpu and Hakka women came together to offer prayers for blessings. Women also took part in the traditional youth Zou Biao (messenger walking) activity, reflecting the community’s efforts to preserve its traditions while embracing new changes.

This fall, the "Binnabánnaš" team went on an amazing adventure! 🚁 We filmed scenes with a rescue helicopter team to show our youngest viewers that the people who work to keep us safe are friendly heroes 🚑.

The goal of this special episode is to reassure children that emergency situations are safe, and that the first responders are kind.

Did you know? You can find the adventures of the two talking Sámi culture puppets, Binnabánnaš and Ujjujju, on Whakaata Māori (Māori Television) in New Zealand!

✨A warm welcome to Ronald P. Aguto, Jr., Provincial Governor of Batanes, Mrs. Hazel Aguto, Governor’s wife, and Honorable Jonathan Enrique V. Nanud, Jr., Vice Governor of Batanes, who led a delegation from the Philippines to Taiwan!✨

From November 3–6, the Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) hosted the delegation for a cultural exchange and discussions on the 2026 Lanyu–Batan 300-Year Commemorative Voyage.

Organized by the Indigenous Peoples Cultural Foundation (IPCF), next year’s Cinedkeran voyage (June 23–27) will reconnect Lanyu and Batanes across the Bashi Channel, reviving an ancient maritime route after 300 years. ⛵️🌊

Governor Aguto shared, “Our Ivatan ancestors came from Lanyu a thousand years ago — we are one family!” ❤️

Wiradyuri digital artist and filmmaker Elijah Ingram has been appointed to the board of Museums of History NSW, making him one of six young leaders joining the governing bodies of the state’s oldest cultural institutions.

The Leeton-based creative and co-founder of Miil Miil Productions, a First Nations-led film and arts collective, was selected from almost 400 applicants in a new state initiative aimed at putting young people at the decision-making table of major cultural institutions.

Selected from nearly 400 applicants, Ingram says his appointment ensures regional and First Nations perspectives are represented “at the highest level".
