The Trustees of The Radio Active Charitable Trust are thrilled to announce Nicholas Medder as the brand new manager of Radio Active FM Limited.

Nick has impressed us with his dedication to broadcasting over many years, his passion for Radio Active and engagement and enthusiasm for the local music scene.

Listeners to Radio Active may remember Nick as host of the Monday Drive and filling in for many other shows back in 2016-17. Nick brings with him experience from stints at The Department of Justice, Sky TV and more recently MediaWorks

Super stoked to announce I’ll be starting as Station Manager at the legendary RadioActive.FM later this week! This iconic Wellington radio station has been broadcasting since 1977! This is a full circle moment for me as Radioactive gave me my first on air opportunity as a fresh faced student back in 2017 so to be able to comeback and manage the station is an incredible achievement for me. Come along for the ride by listening online or if you’re in Wellington changing those dials to 88.6FM!

I've been really wanting to get back into my music both in terms of producing and mixing so I've decided to finally release my latest track a Drum & Bass banger: Lighter Fade Away. Made way back during the first lockdown, this is easily the piece of music I'm most proud of producing to date, have a listen and let me know what you think!

So sad to hear the news about Jay this morning… he was a super lovely dude, one of the very few that actually took the time out of their day to message me back years ago when I reached out for some advice, he’s an absolute legend of the New Zealand electronic music and he will be missed ❤️

Very sad news this morning whānau, New Zealand electronic music pioneer & former George Nights host Jay Bulletproof has passed away.

As a DJ & producer he was at the forefront of the early NZ drum & bass scene. He went on to produce a wide variety of electronic music over his life, winning a NZ Music Award for Best Electronica Album for Soundtrack To Forever in 2010.

In his time at George Jay's passion for breaking new artist's music on the radio was instrumental in launching many of the acts you still hear on air and at gigs today.

Our thoughts & condolences go out to his family & friends, moe mai rā

A pioneer in the 1970s’ development of dub music with his early adoption of studio effects to create new instrumentals of existing reggae tracks (for Dub we thank you). Lee worked with & produced for various artists, including Bob Marley & the Wailers, the Congos, Adrian Sherwood, The Orb, the Beastie Boys & many more!

So sad to hear about DMX’s passing at only 50 years old. He was one of the first artists I really took a shine to as a kid. I remember staying up late back in 2003 as a 9 year old just to hear ‘X Gon Give It To Ya’ which was at number 1 for aggggges, RIP Earl Simmons

The influential MC’s chart-topping career included five Number One albums, but was beset by drug and legal issues. He died following a heart attack

So sad to wake up to news of Daft Punk finally calling it quits, they were one of my earliest electronic influences and I sadly never got to see them play live, but they’ve had such a amazing impact on dance music and what an amazing legacy they leave behind ❤️
