UOA Game Developer Guild We are UoA's Game Dev club. We provide resources, through workshops and events, that help promote gam

We are club with a mission to provide skills and experience in game development to students, as well as introduce a growing part of the industry to them. We run regular tutorial sessions, encourage members participate and collaborate in competitions, and connect with current companies in the game development industry.

The Semester-Long Game Jam kicks off this Monday, March 17! This is your chance to work on a game throughout the semester, collaborate with others, and bring your awesome game ideas to life.

At the event, we’ll reveal the theme, give an overview of how the jam works, and help you connect with fellow developers, artists, and designers to form teams. Whether you're experienced or just starting out, everyone is welcome to join in.

Our semesterly Showcase Night is around the corner, and everyone is invited!! 🥳
This is our biggest event, with many games galore and plenty of players to come play. 🎮 Show off your projects old and new (especially your GDG Jam games), receive feedback, and get to vote for the theme and category winners of this sem's GDG Awards~ 🍻
Invite your friends, family, with completely not-too-weird strangers welcome as well!

Yoh! Our Jam Officer and Veteran Dev Ben is doing a tutorial next Monday on implementing Multiplayer and Networks in Unity!!
If you're a coder or designer, and have a bit of experience in C # and UnityScript, come join us! Make sure to *bring Unity LTS 2022 on your own computer* to participate.

Join us next Monday at Science 302-190 for our new Intro to Worldbuilding Tutorial! 🌏🏗️
We'll be covering the broad basics of worldbuilding and how different stories and experiences have achieved this, and even delving into how building interactive experiences in games and VR affects this process. 😲
There's some *pretty fun prompts* lined up for you guys during the world drafting breakout, and at the end we'll be giving everyone a platform to tell us the general worlds they've built during the breakout. ♥️

For this event we'll be inviting anyone to come, and any skill levels encouraged~ 🥰 If you've never done a splat of writing or designing, this is a good opportunity to test out the waters in that! ✨

Yo everyone, welcome back to another semester of GDG!
This coming Monday, we'll be hosting our semesterly Launch Night and inviting a very special guest speaker from Weta Workshop! Join us for our typical night of pizza and chatting, and hope you'll enjoy our speaker Ludmilla Miranda-Dukoski~

This is free to come, and please list if you have any dietary restrictions or concerns. Note for our regulars that our location has changed; we are hosting it in 302-G20 this time!!

Join us everyone, for the biggest game jam/hackathon is happening this weekend!! 🚀🎉

Kiwijam is the time for all types of gamedevs to come along and make a game from scratch in 48h!!🔥 You'll get to form teams with anyone (from students to industry devs) 👯, receive free food and catered meals 🌮, optionally use the Unleash Space to create any equipment you want 🦾, and make connections through the weekend.👏 Whether you've never made a game or have released full titles, we want you there!! 🫂🌺

At the end, submit your games to itch, and we'll open it up to the public ✨, where you can showcase your game to fellow devs and friends 🥰 (or come yourself if you couldn't participate), and vote for potential award nominees~ 🏆

It's an exciting event (and potentially the last time in the Maker Space), so you don't want to miss it! 💚

Join us this Monday for a fun night of gaming, pizza, yapping and announcing upcoming events! 🎉
Show off your games from years past or what you've been brewing for GDG jam, and get a chance to let others playtest and have fun messing with it. 🎮📺

Anyone can come - this is a free night, welcoming all friends of our teams or even just curious fellas. 👋👪

Yohoho! ☠️ It's Overload NZ time!! 🥳

We've set up shop in Shed 10 at Stall CG3 next to .amc, courtesy of . You'll find us displaying all of our members various games, holding a lil' art competition, and generally giving you a chance to beat some of our deadly games. 🖌️🔥

If you're going this Saturday or Sunday, make sure to come check us out while you're attending the events, enjoying the food, and getting merch and art. We'll be keen to give you a break from all the chaos. 🎷
And make sure to give some love by the end of this!! Thank you so much to them for providing this amazing opportunity. 💕
