And what a year it was!

🌟 Finally met some of my clients in person after 6 of working together.
🌟 A number of new Kajabi clients and working on their online courses.
🌟 Attended the NZ VA Awards where one of my clients took home 2 awards!

2025 is going to be a year to thrive and grow.

What a weekend! 😮‍💨

2 networking/social events on Saturday. Execute Virtual Assistant Limited team Christmas Lunch and the Annual Virtual Assistant Network New Zealand Christmas dinner.

It was so good to catch up with these wonderful women who are all working so hard to smash their goals and build their businesses. 👊

Plus, I valeted my car, sold it, and did my Christmas shopping.

Ready for the final week of work for 2024 and the to-do list that is a mile-long. 😬

I feel so special!

Last week, a big package arrived at my doorstep, and this is what I found inside.

This is the perfect gift for anyone who loves tea (like me 🫖)—a T2 Tea advent calendar!

Sooo, much tea 🤤 and the first one I tried was so yummy.

This beautiful advent calendar now sits in front of my TV (which doesn't work 😅), so I can see it every day from my desk.

It is things like this that truly make someone feel appreciated.

There are a bunch of new connections on here, so I'm taking a moment to re-introduce myself.

Hi 👋 I'm Marianne, aka Mickie.

If I'm not online helping coaches build successful and engaging online courses, you'll find me curled up with a good book, out for a walk, or hanging with my friends and family.

👩‍🏫 But that wasn't always the case. I used to work as a high school teacher, 60-70 hours per week, teaching 15 to 18-year-olds social studies, history, and classical studies.

For a while, I loved it and had found one of my passions, but years of chronic nerve pain later, my ability to be an awesome teacher had hit a roadblock. Changes needed to happen, and so I started looking at ways to work for myself from home.

A few small businesses and COVID lockdowns later, and I had finally managed to do that.

This year, I changed my business to align with my passions for education and digital marketing. My mission is now to help coaches create online courses that leave their students raving about using Kajabi. 👩‍💻

There are a lot of myths floating around out there about what you need to create an online course.

It's time to bust some of them! 👊

Myth 1: You need years of experience to create an online course.
💥 Truth: You just need valuable knowledge and a clear process to share it. People aren’t looking for “the most experienced”; they’re looking for someone who can help them achieve results. Whether you’ve been doing this for six months or six years, if you can guide people to success, your course has value.

Myth 2: You need a huge audience to sell your course.
💥 Truth: A small, engaged audience is way more powerful than a large, indifferent one. Even with just a handful of followers, you can create a course that sells—especially when you focus on solving a specific problem they’re facing.

Myth 3: Creating an online course is too complicated.

When I was little, I wanted to be a doctor. 👩‍⚕️

I was so serious about it that my dad bought me an anatomy book with a CD-ROM (remember those?) so I could "study" on our computer.

Then, as I grew up, I thought modeling might be fun. I had the skinniest chicken legs as a teen but never actually pursued it. 🐔

At 16, I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life, but being a stubborn teen, I decided to drop out of school and swore I’d never go back. 🙅‍♀️

Fast forward 7 years of admin, call centers, reception work, office management, and temp jobs, and I was made redundant during the 2008 recession.

It was hard to find a job, and I had no qualifications, so I broke my 16-year-old vow and decided to give uni a shot.

I did a BA in History and Ancient History (because why not?), which was fun but not exactly practical. Then, I thought I’d try teaching. 👩‍🏫

I loved it. For the first time, I truly enjoyed what I did and felt like I was making a difference.

But after nearly 10 years, COVID lockdowns and chronic health challenges made me feel I wasn’t the teacher my students deserved. And if you’re not being a great teacher, you shouldn’t be one (IMO).

During one of those lockdowns, I started a small biz selling affirmation jars online. It was creative, fun, and something just for me.

And it made me realize something: I’d always wanted to run my own business. Growing up, I’d watched my parents start so many businesses—health food, beauty, clothing, real estate—you name it. And I wanted to do that, too.

That goal had been buried for years but finally came to the surface.

Fast-forward a few more years, and here I am! Now, I help coaches, consultants, and small business owners with Kajabi, course creation, and marketing. 🫶 I love every second of it.

My journey has been messy and full of ups and downs, but it’s mine. Every step taught me something, and those experiences made me who I am today.

About 6 or 7 years ago, I was at a bookstore when I saw this bright green book. 📗

I don't know what attracted me to it—maybe the colour, the title, or both—but whatever it was, it was the first and only finance book I ever bought.

And I loved it! 💯

Reading this book was the first time I'd ever really considered my relationship with money, my parents' influence on my finances, and my money mindset.

Since then, I've been a huge fan of Frances Cook - Journalist and follow her on social media to stay up to date with everything she's doing.

So, when Ben approached me a few weeks ago about working with Frances, I had a serious fan-girl moment. 🤩

I didn't squeal, run around the house screaming, or faint like I was at a Micheal Jackson concert, but I definitely bounced around in my chair and gushed to my flattie about it.

I may also have gushed a bit in my email to Ben and in my first call with Frances—just a little. 🤏

Fast-forward and I am so very excited to work with Frances on updating her website and Kajabi courses (squee!)

Making text edits easy in Kajabi! 👏 If you've ever used Kajabi, you know that editing your text can be a bit annoying. Well, not anymore! 🙅‍♀️ A couple of weeks ago, Kajabi announced a new feature: You can now edit your text styling directly on the page, no longer having to use the left-hand menu. It may seem like a small thing, but when you have a number of pages to build or edit, it's definitely a time saver! ⌛ If you don't have the new in-line text editing feature, you'll need to update your website theme first. As a coach, you are the face of your business, and people are essentially buying you. They want you to coach them over all others. But that means that you have to be visible and seen online. 🤗 They have to know who you are, how you help them, what style of coaching you use, etc., because they want to make sure that it fits them. There are lots of ways you can be seen online. 🙋‍♀️ Headshots, branded images, photos of you and your life, behind-the-scenes photos, and, of course, video. It can be tough, though, to put your face and voice out there for all the world to see. Trust me, this video was not easy for me, but I did it. 🙌 And you don't have to be all made up and perfect to show up and be seen (unless that's part of you and your brand). If you look closely enough, you'll see all the grey hairs I'm slowly starting to embrace in this video and my photos. 🫣 Being out there and seen and heard by your audience is essential. But it is also important that you do it authentically as you. How do you show up in your coaching sessions? How do you show up in your day-to-day life? This is how you should show up online.
