[Save it for later]

Photo dump Thursday - Japan!!! These are some of the best moments we had in Japan!

1 & 2. We went to the Sky Tree and although the tower was mesmerising, the surroundings made it so much better. It was buzzing with the people. I’d say if you are on a budget like us and are not planning to go up to the Sky Tree, grab a coffee (or not) and then just enjoy the sunset here. The place has a superb energy.

3. If you are around the Imperial Palace and are a runner or cyclist, well, you are in for a treat. This whole section is dedicated to the cyclists and runners on Sundays. They officially close the road for cyclists so you can have the entire road to yourself.

4 &5. I mean, if you have watched our Japan vlogs, you’ll know by now, how much we loved Ichiran Ramen. During our 12-day stay, we had Ichiran Ramen 3 times and we are planning another Japan trip soon and guess what, one of the first searches we did was Ichiran Ramen.
This one we went to: Japan, 〒150-0042 Tokyo, Shibuya City, Udagawacho, 13−7 コヤスワン B1F

6. One of the subway stations in Tokyo. Do yourself a favour and look around these subway stations. Not only they are amazingly beautiful, but some of them have beautiful artwork and even “luxurious” toilets.

7, 8 & 9. Shinjuku is well-known for its 3-D cat but Golden G*i is not to be missed. It does look shady but a stroll around this back alley streets will give you an authentic experience of bar hopping in Japan.

10. Golden G*i was not our vibe and it is not budget-friendly. So, if you are like us, then there are plenty of options in Shinjuku. We just found this tiny bar in Shinjuku and had the best time.

Are you planning a Japan trip anytime soon?

Needless to say, we are missing Japan and to tell you the truth, we are already planning our next trip and hopefully, it’s gonna be pretty soon 🤫🤭 we are brewing a lil secret that we CAN NOT wait to share with you BUT in the meantime, lemme take you back in the time where we just got to the Japan and fell in love with this beautiful country instantly- yep, love at first sight 😂
1. Mandatory selfie at the !!

2. Since we decided to do Japan on a budget as a practice run (this is the biggest hint, I was allowed to drop 😉), we chose public transport to get to our hotel. It may have taken us longer but it was the easiest, safest and most comfortable train ride one could hope for ✌️🏼🚃 (Check out the video on our Instagram!!)

3. Obviously, the first thing we did was to look for the perfect place to eat our dinner and we found this cute little Ramen spot near our hotel.

4. Tbh, we were clueless as to how to order and what to order. There was no English Menu and obviously, they did not speak English so it was difficult for us to figure out how to order especially for me(Ami) as I am still not comfortable eating ANY meat. Translate came to the rescue and believe me, this app will become your best friend in Japan! (Video is on Instagram)

5 & 6. First Ever Ramen 🍜🤤

7. Now! I saved the best secret for the last 🤫We decided to travel to Japan on a budget as a practice run (this is the biggest hint I was allowed to share today 🙈😉) and we were so glad to come across . They have pretty awesome deals on their website and you get to stay in some amazing hotels a pretty insane discounted prices!

8. We booked this through and the best feature was this big as a window with a view of from our bed! How insane is this!! But wait it gets even better, do you know how much it cost us? Drummmm rolllll pleaseee, we only paid $58.75 each per night and did I mention, it is a 4-star hotel?!

Can I take a moment to appreciate the stunning shrines that exist out there? The first time we went to Meiji Jingu, we were running late and missed out on the chance to explore it. But we decided to give it another shot the next day, and boy, was it worth it! The beauty of this Shinto shrine is simply unparalleled.🇯🇵🎌⛩️

Oh my goodness, Japan has completely stolen our hearts! There's just no way any smartphone camera could ever do justice to the awe-inspiring shrines and temples we've seen here. It's like we've been transported to another world entirely!

08/01/2024

Tokyo stole our hearts on the very first day but these next few days are gonna be wild and I cannot wait to show you.

We have a jam-packed day today. When we were planning this trip, this was the day that I was the most excited about. Because today is the day, we are gonna try our first Ichiran Ramen and then we are also going to go to the Shibuya Crossing. After that, we are gonna to our very first Robot Cafe.

While I see/hear stories of other millennials “settling down”, I cannot wait to uproot our lives to chase our dream or should I “unsettle” our lives? 😂😂🫣
This tiny getaway was a much-needed sneak peek into our (hopefully) future lives that we are desperately dreaming of!!!

EMBRACING VULNERABILITY!!!
It is not easy to embrace your insecurities or “failures” per se! It comes with a lot of emotions, and internal struggles but what I have learned from a few experiences is that embracing that vulnerability can lead you to a great sense of happiness!
I was terrified of the idea of doing THE TONGARIRO ALPINE CROSSING! It was on my “someday” list and when I decided to attempt it, it still came with a lot of insecurities and fear!
The only thing that kept me going was the acceptance! I accepted the fact that it is going to be difficult. I accepted the fact that I am holding on to a lot of fear. I started educating myself about the whole hike. I randomly texted people to ask questions about volcanic activities. I embraced all of my vulnerabilities to make them my strength!
It was definitely not easy, tears were shed but I tasted an adrenaline rush throughout and it gave me a boost to keep doing what I am most insecure about!
If you want to see the whole journey, here is the YouTube video we posted the last week:

WHY DID I FALL IN LOVE WITH TRAVELLING?

I have been thinking about my “why” for the past couple of months. Why do I think I crave travelling or why do I love travelling? Honestly, there’s no simple explanation.I have never travelled full-time,so I have no idea if I am even cut out for it, but it just makes me so happy.

Ironically, I found some answers when I went on an overnight hike over the weekend. You see, I always thought I was open-minded. I thought I had come out of the stereotype thinking.I was under the impression that I do not define things conventionally.Little did I know, I could not be more wrong. Not only did I realise how deeply stereotyped I was about certain things, but I was also clinging to some ideas or definitions I thought I had parted with a long time ago.

There was a time when people around me found my way of thinking “unfathomable”.They led me to believe that my thinking was too out of place.I decided I would re-define things.I would never accept things for what they are without having a logical or philosophical explanation. That opened up a new world, and I thought I had got it right until I met these amazing hoomans

They made me realise how society puts ideas into your mind ever so swiftly that it does not allow any opportunity to rethink or redefine them. I fell in love with travelling because it allowed me to meet some incredible human beings. They reminded me that I want to travel not only to see places but to explore the essence of humanity. They helped me break those stereotypes that I even did not know existed within me. I realised I love travelling because it brings the thought storms in my mind and forces me to pour these thoughts out. Travelling reminds me of how I love writing and how I fought for it once upon a time. Travelling helps me break the barriers that the routine of the mundane life imposes upon me.

Well, I can go on and on, but you got the gist. You tell me, what do you love about travelling?

WHERE DO I BELONG?

I catch myself separating from my identity to fit in “somewhere” many times. Social acceptance, liking and sometimes pleasing fuel the constant need for belongingness

But why do we want to fit in?

We have been taught that we are social animals. Does the need to “fit in” come from the idea of society? It is so inherently built that some of our responses or decisions are by default driven by a sense of belongingness

For the longest time, I tried to blend in with people because that’s all I knew! I was losing a piece of my identity to fit into the “society” and it did work for a while and I felt I belonged “here” but deep down I knew it did not align with my identity!

The moment I let go of the need to “blend in”, I felt empowered, almost free! The urge is still there, peep out now and then but the fact my mind is catching those moments, I have the power to resist them.

I only want to belong where I am myself- 100% I want to belong in ME (and sometimes with 😉🤣😘❤️)

What do you think? Or am I the only one with such crazy thoughts?
Also, if you have missed this week’s video, let me fill you in. We recently bought a van to travel around New Zealand. It is a part of our going into Full-time travel ❤️🤞🏽Get more deets from our YouTube video:

ARE YOU PLANNING TO ATTEMPT TONGARIRO ALPINE CROSSING?

👉🏼 The Crossing is a 19.4 km hike that goes through the Alpine terrain and active volcano.

👉🏼 Its landscape and beautiful lakes make it a popular day hike in the world (Yip, Google it)

👉🏼 It is not a circuit hike which means, it has a different start and endpoint

We found this article quite useful: https://bit.ly/3MB3wgp

Please keep in mind that Tongariro Crossing contains 3 active vents and just like any volcano, it can erupt at any time without a warning!

Please have a look at this link: https://bit.ly/3LHCK4P

The best way to approach this is to familiarize yourself with the risk and have awareness of the environment

📸 Can anyone do it? Do I have to be super fit or an experienced Alpine tramper?

The simple answer is No. We are neither 😁

However, it may take more time to complete the trek if you are not fit or have never walked such a distance before.

If you do not work out or take part in any physical activities daily then we would recommend you to get some training before you attempt! A simple long-distance walk might be useful too!

You do not have to be an advanced hiker but preparation is the key! Research as much as you can before you go!

The crossing used to be called “ Tongariro Crossing” however, due to a lack of understanding of Alpine terrain and fitness, the hike is also known for the most search and rescue calls! The Government then decided to add “Alpine” to the name so people know what to expect on the hike!

You do not have to have good experience with Alpine terrain but we would suggest you familiarise yourself with Alpine conditions with videoes and blogs/vlogs. You just need to be prepared for any weather conditions and push through!

Always remember you chose to do the hike. It will make the hardship easier 😉

More info on the best time to do the crossing, packing, accommodation, and shuttle to come! Make sure you save this post 😊

WHAT STORY ARE YOU TELLING YOURSELF?

For years I fed myself with a story that if I move out of my home, hometown, or overseas, I would lose weight, get fit and achieve the perfect figure I always want! It suffices to say, I only gained weight
I then started telling myself to ignore the perfect body madness - I should just love my body! I started blaming the society we live in and how easy it is to comment on someone’s weight! I condemn the body-shaming behaviour but I was using it as a shield to fuel my narration. The Initial result was good, Ignorance is bliss, isn’t it?
But my body was failing me. I tried pushing myself to come out of the narration by joining the gym a few times but I was never convinced I could get through to it so I never continued. This made me accept and believe in my story that I am not built for the gym or that some people just cannot work out. I should just accept my body the way it is
Think of a couch potato, yep that was me! Telling myself that I earned this rest! I worked way too hard today so I deserve the couch! Then covid happened! I was stuck at my home and suddenly my narration was crumbling down
I started moving my overweight body (thanks to l) which helped me to shed a few grams. When I noticed the difference and started enjoying the workouts, I then realised how I was trapped in my narration
I knew I had willpower for things I wanted to accomplish but this was different! I realised the story I tell to my mind has significant power over my actions! This tiny shift in my narrative led me to run an 8.4 km race, made the 5:00 a.m. morning routine possible for a “not a morning person” and made me seek a desire to celebrate my birthday on an active volcano despite the fear of freezing to death, volcanic eruption, blown away by wind and falling off the exposed ridge
I changed my narration slowly and that made me do wonders that I did not know I had the willpower for! So let me ask you again- what story are you telling yourself?

There’s something about travelling on your own! We can associate words like liberating, freedom, adventure or courage to it but I do not think it justifies it properly.
So I am not going to put that feeling into words. It is something you need to experience on your own and then let’s meet over a coffee ☕️so we can discuss all about it ❤️
