CENTRAL OTAGO POWER CUT
MARJORIE COOK January 19
Power is out to the Central Otago region this morning, with two faults registered on the Aurora Energy website at Clyde and Alexandra.
The cut is affecting more than 8000 power users — 1030 at Clyde and 6949 at Alexandra, Aurora communications manager Lisa Gloag said this morning.
The Aurora website is overloaded and has slowed down as people check for information about the outage.
Ms Gloag said the faults were being investigated and no timeframe was known yet for restoring power to the region.

Last night we gathered as a team one last time to celebrate our incredible cadets and the amazing year they had on their Cadetship.

Milo and Ruby have done incredible jobs- we have thrown them in to some crazy situations and stories (drug busts, political visits, snow chasing, floods, a tonne of A&P shows and community events, sports events, public meetings) and they have just run with it, embracing every opportunity to learn on the job.

They have sourced stories on their own, developed contacts, walked kilometres to get to the scene of an event, climbed hills to get a better perspective for the right photo, interviewed people stuck in traffic queues, stayed late when a political party leader decides to come to town last minute on the campaign trail and wants an interview.

They have taken knock backs and dealt with stories that just didn’t come together when they originally seemed simple, and can recognise PR spin from a mile away.

They graduate in a couple of weeks and we couldn’t be prouder - there are big things ahead for them both!
