July 14-

Former US president Donald Trump was the target of an apparent assassination attempt Saturday at a Pennsylvania rally, days before he was to accept the Republican nomination for a third time. A barrage of gunfire set off panic, and a bloodied Trump, who said he was shot in the ear, was surrounded by Secret Service and hurried to his SUV as he pumped his fist in a show of defiance.

Trump’s campaign said the presumptive GOP nominee was doing “fine” after the shooting, which he said pierced the upper part of his right ear.

“I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place,” he wrote on his social media site.

The FBI early Sunday identified the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. The agency said the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Secret Service agents fatally shot Crooks, who attacked from an elevated position outside the rally venue at a farm show in Butler, Pennsylvania, the agency said.

One attendee was killed and two spectators were critically injured, authorities said. All were identified as men.

The attack was the most serious attempt to assassinate a president or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981. It drew new attention to concerns about political violence in a deeply polarized U.S. less than four months before the presidential election. And it could alter the tenor and security posture at the Republican National Convention, which will begin Monday in Milwaukee.

Organizers said the convention would proceed as planned.

Trump flew to New Jersey after visiting a local Pennsylvania hospital, landing shortly after midnight at Newark Liberty International Airport. Video posted by an aide showed the former president deplaning his private jet flanked by U.S. Secret Service agents and heavily armed members of the agency’s counter assault team, an unusually visible show of force by his protective detail.

Week of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking observed: Islamic Sangh Nepal and IPFN come together for a cause
Kathmandu, July 01-

June 26 is celebrated as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. This year, a week themed "The evidence is clear: invest in prevention" was observed as part of the almost four decade long tradition, calling on all stakeholders from the family, community, nations and international community to fight the growing social
malaise of drug abuse and human trafficking.

In Nepal, many social and religious entities took on the same, not least IPFN (Interfaith Peace federation-Nepal) and Islamic Sangh Nepal jointly, by holding a symposium on the theme today at the convention hall of Islamic Sangh Nepal, Balkhu, Kathmandu.

Chaired by Maulana Nazarul Hussein the chair of Islamic Sangh Nepal, the programme was attended by faith leaders from Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, Kirat and Muslim religion, as well as social activists and media persons. Ably emceed by ISN central member Azizulla Ansari, IPFN Vice-Chair person Mrs. Seema Khan, a former MP, delivered the welcome speech, followed by addresses by Kirat, Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, and Hindu religious leaders and/or representatives. All emphasized the fact that drug abuse, alcoholism and gambling is its morally, religiously and ethically untenable; that such sinful and harmful practices must be eliminated.

A slight difference of emphasis was palpable to the observant eye and sensitive ears, as some faith outright designate any beverage as "haram", while others use beverages as a must for ritual offering, while still others are pragmatic, neither needing ritually nor prohibiting. That said, any kind of addiction, drug abuse and gambling was unconditionally condemned by all the speakers.

Brief History and Background

By resolution 42/112 of 7 December 1987, the UN General Assembly decided to observe 26 June as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.

Supported each year by individuals, communities, and various organizations all over the world, this global observance aims to raise awareness of the major problem that illicit drugs represent to society.

The evidence is clear: invest in prevention

The global drug problem presents a multifaceted challenge that touches the lives of millions worldwide. From individuals struggling with substance use disorders to communities grappling with the consequences of drug trafficking and organized crime, the impact of drugs is far-reaching and complex. Central to addressing this challenge is the imperative to adopt a scientific evidence-based approach that prioritizes prevention and treatment.

The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, is marked on 26 June every year to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world free of drug abuse. This year’s World Drug Day campaign recognizes that effective drug policies must be rooted in science, research, full respect for human rights, compassion, and a deep understanding of the social, economic, and health implications of drug use.

Together, let us amplify our efforts to combat the global drug problem, guided by the principles of science, compassion, and solidarity. Through collective action and a commitment to evidence-based solutions, we can create a world where individuals are empowered to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.

According to the UNODC, nearly 200 million people are using illicit drugs such as co***ne, cannabis, hallucinogens, opiates and sedative hypnotics worldwide. In December 1987 the UN General Assembly decided to observe June 26 as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The UN was determined to help create an international society free of drug abuse. This resolution recommended further action with regard to the report and conclusions of the 1987 International Conference on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Following the resolution, the years 1991 to 2000 were heralded as the “United Nations Decade Against Drug Abuse”. In 1998 the UN General Assembly adopted a political declaration to address the global drug problem. The declaration expresses UN members’ commitment to fighting the problem.

“Retribution through Success”- Trump Crushes a derailed Biden in Debate:
Democrats in panic mode; talks and suggestion for replacing Biden in the air
June 29-

Former US president Donald Trump has been repeating the phrase "Retribution is a great success," and he seems to be actualizing that.

If Joe Biden loses November’s election, history will record that it took just 10 minutes to destroy a presidency.

It was clear a political disaster was about to unfold as soon as the 81-year-old commander in chief stiffly shuffled on stage in Atlanta to stand eight feet from ex-President Donald Trump at what may turn into the most fateful presidential debate in history.

Objectively, Biden produced the weakest performance since John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon started the tradition of televised debates in 1960 — then, as on Thursday, in a television studio with no audience. - These were the word at CNN, and we though what better assessment to begin this coverage!

Donald Trump, Jr. x-ed President Biden in a tweet on X, "I really don't know what he said at the end of that sentence — I don't think he knows what he said, either."

"Biden is beyond incoherent. He looks old and weak."

Someone added, "CNN accidentally helped Trump."

Looking at the debate, many believe that Biden won't be able to finish a second term- meaning, he won't be alive. That's a really bleak view, and is going to hurt the Democratic Party badly, ensuring Trump's victory for the second time in the third attempt.
Here is what The Wall Street Journal wrote about the debate:

"In the first presidential debate of the 2024 campaign, President Biden gave the kind of delivery that Democrats feared, one that lacked vigor and combativeness. Trump, meanwhile, uncharacteristically was able to keep his composure in a 90-minute show that brimmed with insults and policy contrasts. The highlights:

Trump said that if he is re-elected he would secure the release of Evan Gershkovich, a WSJ journalist who has been detained in Russia on false accusations of espionage.

Trump avoided giving direct answers to questions posed, maintaining relative discipline, while Biden at times appeared to lose his train of thought and struggled to allay concerns about his age.

Deflecting the topic of his felony conviction, Trump tried to turn attention to Hunter Biden, the president's son.

Trump appeared to commit to allowing the abortion pill to remain available. Biden said he supports the Roe v. Wade framework, which allowed abortion until viability until it was struck down by the Supreme Court.

The two presumptive nominees sparred over Ukraine, with Trump blaming Biden for Russia's invasion and criticizing the amount of aid the U.S. is providing."

Many other media also owned up to the seen, visible fact that Biden could not maintain a normal physical and mental posture of well being. Here is what the BBC wrote, "The president came into the debate with a low bar to clear, and he stumbled. He was flat. He was rambling. He was unclear.

About midway through the debate, the Biden campaign said that the president was battling a cold - an attempt to explain his raspy voice. That may be so, but it also sounded like an excuse.

For 90 minutes, more often than not, he was on the ropes. Particularly early in the evening, some of his answers were nonsensical. After losing his train of thought he ended one answer by saying, “We finally beat Medicare” – an odd reference to the government-run healthcare programme for the elderly."

Someone commented, "Trump won that debate so strongly he could’ve been charged with Elderly abuse."

That the first few topics raised by CNN's moderators were on the top voter issues of economy and immigration - which polls show Americans trust Trump more on - only made the problem worse for the president, however.

“I really don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence, and I don’t think he did, either,” Trump said after another Biden response. That line may have summed up the night.

Joe Biden's uneven — and at times incoherent — debate performance Thursday reportedly has triggered panic in Democratic circles as it could result in an insurmountable lead for Donald Trump and a Republican victory in November's vote.

Some had expected that Trump would be facing three opponents all at once- two CNN moderators Dana Bash and Jake Tapper, in addition to Biden. But largely to their credit, the moderators did excellent by not interrupting Trump and not siding with Biden unduly.

Interestingly, Joe Biden was at the Camp David presidential retreat for a whole week, getting rested and preparing for this very debate. Speaking in Philadelphia, Trump has said much of the prep was likely coming in the form of "sleeping...because they want to get him good and strong." While Biden's prep includes mock debates with a Trump stand-in, Trump's preparation has centered on...

Extremist outfit gatecrashes during service- Pastor and congregants abused and manhandled-
Media, Social and Political Activists visit and criticize the attack
Kathmandu, June 22-

A local church in Madar, Siraha was attacked during the church service on 15 June, around 11:30 am.

Siraha Church, being pastored by Mahesh Mukhiya, was forced to move from another location in the district headquarter as the extremist outfit which identifies itself as Hindu Samrat Sena (Hindu Monarch Army) threatened the landlord not to provide his place for the church.

The church then started gathering on the yard of the pastor; but as the monsoon was approaching, they decided to construct a makeshift hall on the second storey of the pastor's house. But the extremists came there too, started beating the pastor and others.

"Hindu Samrat Sena (HSS) (Hindu Monarch Army) has been threatening us for last some years. 6 months back, we were forced to leave the rented hall for the church, as the same outfit threatened and pressurized us and the landlord to evict us. So, we started gathering on our yard, but as the monsoon was about to start, we planned to construct this upper storey on our house for the church.

"Last Saturday, as we were in the midst of the church service, about 45 people forcibly entered our church and started threatening me. When I told them to be seated and we will talk later, they started beating and kicking me, as well as others. My mom was hit on her mouth with her Bible, and one of her teeth fell.; they also twisted and scratched her left arm. Another young lady was gagged on her mouth, as she requested them to behave and stop using abusive words," pastor Mahesh told the scribe.

On June 18, NCFN representatives visited the pastor and comforted the congregation; the next day, the local Christian Society led a delegation to the Chief District Officer (CDO), submitted a letter asking for protection. The CDO summoned the HSS members and made them sign a paper expressing the commitment that they won't engage in such activities. But the CDO, and the local Ward Chair have reportedly requested the pastor not to conduct the church service in his house, as we are the only Christian family in the locality. "I told them we can't stop gathering and worshipping as a church," the pastor told.

The scribe commented on the incident: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXN0bDEMbdw

Problem with the outfit:

There cannot be two armies in a country: There is already Nepalese Army (NA); there cannot be another army by any name, whether it be Hindu Monarch Army, or Shiv Sena, or Bajrang Dal.
A challenge to the Administration: From the federal government to the local ward level, from the Police to the Army, such an outfit is an outright challenge, defiance, and even more, a rebellion. Such needs to be "nipped in the bud," to be crushed while still controllable; the nation cannot sustain another rebellion.
Safety of all: The government at all levels must ensure he safety of all the citizens, irrespective of their faith and numbers.

Here is how the delegates were surrounded: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tu3fIA5RTEs

We call upon all the local bodies including Nepal Government, Home Ministry, Nepal Police, CDO, Ward Office, and all party representatives to ensure law and order is maintained, and all are protected while exercising their faith. And we call upon the Hindu Samrat Sena to hold a civil discussion.
