Notice of Cancellation of Miss Himalaya Nepal 2021- Season 3

Thank you for your continued support of the Miss Himalaya Nepal Beauty Pageant.

Taking into consideration the health and safety issues, as well as the ongoing global impact caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic, we have come to a conclusion to cancel this year’s Miss Himalaya Nepal 2021 pageant, which was originally scheduled to be held this fall.

We would like to express our deepest regret especially to the participants from all over Nepal, and to all those who have been supporting our event every year. We humbly ask for your understanding in light of this unusual circumstance which is beyond our control.

The next edition, dubbed as the 4th edition of Miss Himalaya Nepal 2022 Beauty Pageant, is scheduled to be held in the fall of January-Feburary, 2022. Details of which will be announced in due time.

We sincerely hope for your continued support and cooperation.

She is a Binita Gurung one of the contestant of Miss Himalaya Nepal 2021. Her Beauty with a Purpose project tittled is Devi. Her campaign's goal is to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene with a slogan with (freedom with no shame).
This project close to her heart, and more than that its high time that mensuration taboo is something that should be talked. Menstruation is tabooed or stigmatized in many parts of the Nepal , mostly in a rural areas of nepal.esspecially in the place where she came from Karnali pardesh. Mostly in rural parts of the karnali region there are taboos and stigmas about menstruation still exist. The extreme practice of Chhaupadi, a century old Hindu tradition of isolating menstruating women in poorly ventilated menstrual huts is still practiced in certain areas of far and mid western region of Nepal in which girls and women are banished to cow sheds and Chhau huts outside their homes during menstruation.

Service Activites:
She have always found herself very keen on changing the lives of people and what else can be better way than helping people in their education. This never ending desire brought her
to the Chundeshwor madhyamik bidhaklaya kavre for the distribution of books in its library with the help of koshele publication and my friends.

However, she felt bad when she saw the books of the library were rarely touched and turned. Students nowadays, have been motivated in online teaching and thus have been deprived of learning through ultimate source of knowledge i.e. books. Books always have been deep ocean of knowledge form where drops of knowledge can always be taken off anywhere at anytime.

She motivated students to read not only course books but also literatue books as well. However, she was not satisfied for the day so with the help of a sister Ms Mangala giri she went to the Indrashobhaa aadharbhut bidhalya kavre where she distributed copies, pencils, erasers, and sharpeners. The school has been helped by different organization for books but the students finacial crisis is such that they cant afford pencils, erasers, sharpeners. On more discussion with the principal of this school he requested me to help to manage dresses for the students with lot of pain and humbleness. The school is only 32 km from the capital city of kathmandu but still the school lacks proper physcial building, genuine school playgorund. This made me feel so bad and worried about the school which are far from the reach and search of capital city. On one day she found students engaged in online teaching system and other students even deprived of copies and pens. There are many more children who even dont go to school. This is the real face of our education system where she think new set of rules and campaign must be run to provide equal education to all the children of Nepal. With this motive she have joined Teach For Nepal to Fulfill the dream “ one day all children of Nepal will be educated.

Also, she went to diiferently able child care home where she provided some food and contributed some donations. Contestat No: 11 Neha Gurung for beauty with purpose title
On 11th falgun, she invited different community, had meeting and formed youth hub where we will be working for the betterment of children, girls and youth including.
On 13th falgun, she conducted a session with about 12 girls of her community about dignified menstruation and also distributed some cloth pads to girls as it is reusable and environment friendly more than sanitary pads.
On 14th Falgun, she conducted a plantation program in Pathibhara Primary Basic School which is located in her community with the studentsof class 4 and 5. She did this as she love gardening and want children to enjoy gardening as she did and let them know the value of plants in our daily life.
On 17th falgun, she conducted another session with 11 young girls(some had already experienced periods and they share their experience and most of them were not known about periods and hasnot experienced yet). And she did it so that they could already know about dignified menstruation before their first periods start and they won't get panic or lost self esteem due to change in their body and will be aware about menstrual health hygiene.

She is a Pratima Tamang, Contestant no.5 in Miss Himalaya Nepal-2021. For the title of Beauty With The Purpose, She did a small fund collection from her facebook, colleagues and by herself.

She is very aware about the COVID-19 pandemic and its precautions. However, she could see the people not following the precautions. So as a student of biotech, she made a plan to aware and help the children with the current situation.

She went to Indreni Children's Home in Sundarijal where the vechiles facility was also not available. She herself prepared the purest sanitizer as possible rather than buying readymade. She also bought 2 packs of surgical mask along with 2 cloth masks per individual. She also got 3 handwash for those children. In addition, She advocated them the measures to follow during this pandemic including why it should be done and also the steps to wash their hands.
