Shilpee Theatre Publications is an endeavor of Shilpee Theatre to keep the live art of theatre alive even after enaction. Since Theatre is a live art, the only way to keep it alive even after a play has been enacted is documentation. With this view, Shilpee publishes books and articles based on the plays and everything that is related to plays. On top of that Shilpee believes that performance shou
ld be criticized. Art develops only when intellectual debate on it are carried out among artists. Debate on art should be organized in the same way as debates on socio-political issues are organized. In the absence of debate, art stops growing and is bound to remain stagnant. For this purpose Shilpee Theatre has also stepped into publication arena and we hope to continue with the publication in the future as well. Among the existing theatres in Nepal, only Shilpee is involved in publishing.
