• The film follows a group of recovering addicts in a desolate rehabilitation center who find themselves parenting a 14-year-old boy. •
“An empty and desolate winter landscape. 14-year-old Matas stares through the frosty window of a car with a vacant look in his eyes. He is being brought to a farm where a group of recovering addicts seeks redemption. Led by charismatic Žanas, a former addict, the community follows a strict routine—praying, tending to animals, and making cheese—all to escape the troubled cycles of the past.
When Matas arrives, the fragile balance of the community is disrupted. Struggling with his own demons—abandonment, violence, and loneliness—he evokes the unresolved emotions within the men, many of whom share a similar history. As group dynamics shift, the men vent their anger on Matas, who, in turn, redirects this violence toward the animals in his care.
As the days pass, this fractured group slowly transforms into a dysfunctional family, bound by their shared struggles with trauma, addiction and violence. Together, they wrestle with the challenge of holding together a community, clinging to the hope of brighter days ahead.”
