The new compilation Great Moments With… showcases the remarkable moments of Chet Baker's career, featuring both his vocals and trumpet work. It spans his final five and a half years, during which he collaborated closely with the Wim Wigt agency in the Netherlands.

The album includes a mix of bebop and ballads, along with the previously unreleased bonus track “But Not For Me”. During this period, Baker benefited from the agency’s management, leading to fewer missed performances and increased fame. His relationship with Wigt and his team, including his girlfriend Diane Vavra, key figures like tour manager Peter Huijts and record engineer Max Bolleman, significantly enhanced his career. The double album traces his journey with Wigt, beginning with the opening track “Ray’s Ideas”, and the ballad “Everything Happens To Me” and concludes with the previously unreleased track “But Not From Me”. The album highlights his work with European musicians and features recordings from various sessions, including performances with Dexter Gordon’s rhythm section, his own trio, and a rare live recording from Zagreb. The Great Moments With LP… not only celebrates Baker’s legacy but continues to inspire and resonate with new generations.

Great Moments With…is now available in stores as a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on white coloured vinyl. The 2LP includes new liner notes by Jeroen de Valk and is housed in heavy cardboard linnen laminated gatefold sleeve.

The previously unreleased single "But Not From Me" is now also available on all digital platforms.

We are pleased to announce 'Swing Street' the latest album by the Eric Ineke JazzXpress. A tribute to the great Cannonball Adderley 1960-62 repertoire.

Throughout the 1960s, Adderley led one of the most popular groups in hard bop jazz. On Swing Street, drummer Eric Ineke and his quintet explore ten songs recorded by Adderley with his groups. Ineke, who was born and raised in the Netherlands, has been a major jazz drummer in Europe since the late 1960s. In addition to leading his own groups and working with top Europeans, he has recorded and performed with many American greats in Europe including Ben Webster, Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin, George Coleman, Chet Baker, Jimmy Raney, Al Cohn, Barry Harris, Eric Alexander and David Liebman. Ineke recorded on Timeless with such notables as pianist Rein de Graaf, Al Cohn, Dave Pike, David “Fathead” Newman, and Ronnie Cuber, although Swing Street is his debut for Timeless as a leader. To bring back the sound of the Cannonball Adderley Quintet, Ineke utilized four masterful musicians.

Dutch alto-saxophonist Tineke Postma has led nine albums of her own since 2003. Among those who participated in her projects have been Geri Allen, Teri Lyne Carrington, Ralph Alessi, and Kris Davis. Trumpeter Nico Schepers, who is from Belgium, has worked with several large orchestras including the Brussels Jazz Orchestra as has the up-and-coming tenor-saxophonist Sjoerd Dijkhuizen. Pianist Rob van Bavel has appeared on over 200 albums and worked with Woody Shaw, Randy Brecker and Johnny Griffin. Bassist Marius Beets led a group with his brother pianist Peter Beets in the 1990s, worked with the Houdinis, recorded with Doug Webb and Dave Liebman, and was on several earlier albums with the Eric Ineke Jazzxpress including sets featuring Liebman, Deborah Brown and Frank Morgan.

The album will be presented tomorrow, November 3rd, during the band's performance at the TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht (NL), and is now available on all streaming platforms and on CD.

In 1983, the jazz legends Cedar Walton, Ron Carter and Jack DeJohnette made their one and only recording as a trio at Vanguard Studios, NYC. The record would be called The All American Trio, which would eventually released in 1986 on Limetree Records (a sister label of Timeless Records).

Cedar Walton was one of the most influential hard bop pianists and became well known as the pianist with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. He would become particularly renowned for his association with the jazz collectives Eastern Rebellion and The Timeless All Stars. The multiple Grammy Award winning bassist Ron Carter and drummer Jack DeJohnette both gained fame early in their careers for their associations with two different Miles Davis groups. They would appear separately on numerous Timeless recordings, however together again with Cedar Walton on the album 'This Is For You, John' alongside Benny Golson and Pharaoh Sanders.

We're pleased to announce the reissue of 'Cedar Walton / Ron Carter / Jack DeJohnette' on 180 grams audiophile vinyl, which will worldwide available in stores on September 6th, 2024. The album features the songs 'Iron Clad', 'Blue Heart', 'All The Things You Are' a.o. It contains newly written liner-notes by jazz journalist/historian Scott Yanow.

Celebrating 115 years of Benny Goodman, The King of Swing!

The American clarinetist and bandleader led one of the most popular swing big bands in the United States. His concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City on January 16, 1938, was described as "the single most important jazz or popular music concert in history: jazz's 'coming out' party to the world of 'respectable' music.

Benny Goodman is considered as one of the founding fathers of the swing era, the most popular music style in the 30s and 40s. Over the course of his long decorated career he would associate himself with likes of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Jack Teagarden, Mildred Bailey, Billie Holiday, Teddy Wilson, Gene Krupa, George Benson and many, many more.

In the Timeless Historical series (or Chris Barber Collection), Goodman is represented on 'The Young Benny Goodman 1928-1931', 'Ted Lewis & His Band 1929-1934', 'Benny Goodman 1931-1935', 'The Compositions of Jelly Roll Morton 1923-1941', Eddie Condon 1928-1931' and 'Ethel Waters 1929-1939'. These remasted compilations are available on all streaming and downloading platforms.

Happy birthday Archie Shepp! The American tenorsaxophonist, educator, playwright and ofcourse Timeless icon is turning 87 years today.

Archie Shepp made a name for himself in the 1960s as a radical sidekick to giants such as Cecil Taylor and John Coltrane. He recorded his outspoken opinions about social injustice and gave them musical form in furious and virtuoso solos. His African-American heritage plays an important role in his sound and philosophy. In the 1970s, more soul, funk and gospel crept into Shepp's free jazz, before also picking up bebop, ballads and blues in the 1980s. Meanwhile, Shepp's universe is populated by themes and styles ranging from Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus and Horace Silver to Charlie Parker, Albert Ayler and Thelonious Monk.

Archie recorded 4 albums on Timeless Records: 'Lover Man' (1989), 'I Didn't Know About You' (1991), 'Black Ballads' (1992) and 'Something To Live For' (1997). Black Ballads and and I Didn't Know About You have recently been reissued on 180 gram coloured vinyl.

Yesterday we honoured our late tourmanager, producer, booking agent and concert programmer Peter Huijts during Scott Hamilton’s concert in his hometown Enschede (NL). Peter was a great loyal friend, a trustworthy support for countless touring jazz giants and producer for many Timeless recordings.

In the words of his daughter Ellemieke Huijts: “Last night there was a concert in tribute to our father. Incredibly nice that our father is not forgotten and remembered in this way. A beautiful LP (Live At De Tor by Scott Hamilton) has been released in memory of Peter Huijts. Thank you dear Ria and Wim Wigt from Timeless Records for doing this! Dear Dad (and Mom) we miss you..”

Scott Hamilton is still appearing in Utrecht TivoliVredenburg, Amsterdam Bimhuis and Zierikzee Theaters aan Zee this week.
