Radio Hi-Tec was created by the dream of Michel de Winter. A little boy that had always been very interested in all things regarding transmitters. His dream became reality in 1982 when the station "Torretella" became airborn in the city Groningen. The big breakthrough came in 1986 and with over 300,000 listeners the station became widely known in the North. In 1988 this boy Michel moved to the beautiful Brabant and founded “Hi-Tec”, which again grew out to become a well known concept for many people living in Brabant. In 2000 Michel switched from the FM band ether to the Internet, being a pioneer in the area of Internet radio. This pioneering resulted in the first radio station with real-time we**am images and audio available through any computer worldwide. Currently, Hi-Tec has become a big player on the Internet, according to Michel a dream he never expected to come true. Michel’s vision: "After a few years this great media piece will replace the FM for a huge part and we hope to be of assistance to show the people how beautiful this media can be!” Now, in 2012 Radio Hi-Tec may still call itself a pioneer in many projects . The biggest projects so far being the events Alcatrazz, FFWD, Weirdhouse, Re-Action Outdoor Party and the Break Up of Bas & Ram and Versuz Belgium. With Alcatrazz and Weirdhouse Hi-Tec was the first Internet station that presented an online party for those who were not able to attend the real life party. Though the online streams can’t give you the real life festival experience, it does give the listener a very good impression and a taste for the festivals to come in the near future. Internet radio is also a great opportunity for sponsors to place their advertising, not only nationally but globally. In 2008 Hi-Tec even scored a scoop by ,as far as we know, being the only station to broadcast live on radio the entire show from the FFWD truck with perfect picture and sound quality. The reactions from listeners were extremely positive, expressing that this was the first time they actually got the vibe of being present in the truck themselves. Anyone can go to Rotterdam and watch, but providing the feeling of being present in real life is an experience on itself. Later in September the stunt from Rotterdam was repeated during the Future Parade in Eindhoven. In short, Hi-Tec is standing for Quality and innovation. By digging deeper and deeper into the material of online streaming, Hi Tec is able to provide the listener with continuously improving quality. Innovation is a slogan that Hi-Tec tries to keep on top of its list of demands. As a radio station Hi Tec is always trying to receive the latest music productions and of course is combining this with the more familiar and widely known music. To accomplish this the station has more than 110 DJs which all try to bring you a varied program. Hi-Tec is also providing opportunities for young and talented DJ's and gives them a chance for their " moment of fame". This change is provided every Wednesday night via the “Guest DJ hour” in the live stream program. During this hour both famous DJ’s and upcoming talented DJ’s can show their skills.
