Dear travelers on the Path, it is with great joy that I finally again, after a long interval, will put some of my music into the world, through digital media like streaming and download platforms.
The release is on Sunday July 21th 2024.
This particular song was inspired by some of the beautiful lyrics by Hazrat Inayat Khan that he wrote is one of his first publications called “GAYAN”
A very old copy of this book (printed in 1922) in the Dutch language came to me through my grandparents and is a treasure I keep in my shrine.
I translated the lyrics back to English but in my own style and moulding it into a song format with great care not to distort the original meaning.
For those who know the book; it is from the chapter “RAGAS” the 4th poem.
Backing me up on the vocals is the lovely Dutch singer Maartje van Gorp, on the tabla there is my very dear longtime friend Toss Levy (a.k.a. the sitar-doctor) and on the Turkish Ney are some enchanting embellishing melodies played by none other then Ney-master Sinan Arat.
All other instruments are played by myself (guitar, bass guitar and keyboards)
Record and mixed at Studio 108 and mastered by mastering wizard Darius van Helfteren (from Amsterdam Mastering)
It is my intention to add more songs in the near future and eventually make them into an album.
But for now I hope you will enjoy this song and help me spread it far and wide!
“Let me feel Your arms around me, my Beloved
Let me feel Your embrace, when I wander far from home
Let my heart become your lute that You play on
The lute I can hear wherever I roam
Hearing Your song my soul comes to life
Hearing You singing Your song
Your singing makes my heart revive
And it always makes me sing along
Let my virgin soul dance at Your court, my Indra
By your nearness let me be blessed
The passion that it has is only for You my love
Let me lean my head upon Your breast
Your arms enfolding me, my feet touch paradise
Feeling Your arms holding me tight
Your divine embrace takes me soaring up high in the sky
Takes me up, up into Your light”
