March 8th 2024 marks the 1-year anniversary of Cedric Vermue’s album “Perpetua.” To celebrate, Mylja Records is launching Donato Dozzy’s captivating and mesmerizing rework of Cedric Vermue’s neoclassical masterpiece, “Patterns.” This as an addition to the rework by Grand River that was previously released.

As a luminary in the techno and ambient landscape, Dozzy brings his signature touch to the track, infusing it with simmering beats and entrancing rhythms. Perpetua - an ambient neo-classical album by Cedric Vermue. A surrealistic dream where traditional instruments and surrealistic studio-processed instruments meet. Featuring piano, organ, synthesizer, electronics, woodwinds, horn and one track with a female choir and a collaboration with Marc Vilajuana.

Perpetua is the latin word for infinity. Referring to the Christian tradition that played an important part in the inspiration for this album, taking inspiration from Gregorian melodies and old organ music. Except for piano, all other instruments were recorded in the St Willibrordchurch in Utrecht, in 9 different recording sessions from 2019 tot 2022. Cedric has been coming here since 2018 and spent many afternoons playing this 12m high church organ, which you can hear in the song: Sanctus ft Marc Vilajuana.

In this album Cedric has been exploring new aesthetics and sound. Digital production techniques and electronics are essential in the storytelling and listening experience of this album. If anything it is an experimental studio album where acoustic spaces and instruments meet with a modern electronic world. Many days were spend together with mixing engineer Antal van Nie to bring all ideas and elements together into the album it is today.

Cedric Vermue’s new album 'Perpetua' will drop on March 10th.

To celebrate this we have a tour planned! ⚡️⚡️⚡️

19/03 De Nijverheid, Utrecht
26/03 Stadsklooster, Utrecht

Cedric will be joined by:
Quentin Rychner on oboe
Lex houtermans on clarinet and contra-clarinet
Femke van de Bergh on clarinet and bass-clarinet.

11/03 will be an amazing and cosy double concert, with Ava Lavá, Loki Project, Lotte Sarembe and Gino Bombrini performing one set together, and Cedric performing the other set of the evening, performing the album for the first time with the ensemble.

After the try-out show there will be two album release concerts in Utrecht:

19/03 joined by Alchi who will open the afternoon with an ambient electronic set. Krijn Moons a.k.a. Alchi.

26/03 joined by who will host and open the afternoon with some songs. This will be a special concert in a beautiful church with spatial audio by .vannie (producer of the album).

“Aether” is based upon a recomposed Gregorian melody (Sanctus XI from the catholic church) played serenely by a piano and clarinet. Later, this is harmonized with waterfall like minimal piano arpeggios, organ and virtuoso clarinet playing. This symbiotically comes together into a climax

Patterns is the most energetic and euphoric track of the album. This track started as an endless 4 second long loop of different complimentary arpeggio patterns. Later this loop was harmonized and given a song structure, becoming the track it is today. In the end 12 different Juno synthesizer layers were stacked on top of each other, combined with a horn melody recorded in the St Willibrord church.
