As September is the last month for the F-16 in service with the Royal Netherlands Air Force, we post one RNLAF F-16 photo per day.

F-16 operations ended on 27-9-2024. The Farewell Falcon has all the squadrons which operated the F-16 in the RNLAF together with all operations in which the F-16s of the RNLAF were deployed on the tail.

The F-35A has taken over the roles of the F-16.

Introducing the new kid. As of tomorrow the F-35 will take over the tasks of the F-16. The last flight of the F-16 will be a formation flight over the Netherlands, passing the places at which the F-16 played a role.

A formation of F-16s mostly concluded the Air Power demo part at the RNLAF Luchtmachtdagen (Open Days). This formation could be seen at the 2013 Luchtmachtdagen at Volkel AB, on 15-6-2013.

21-9-2024. A visit to the spottersday of the Sanicole Air Show at Kleine-Brogel. Unfortunately less interesting aircraft close-by (very small static show and majority of the display aircraft parked on the other side of the runway), but we managed to take some nice shots. Regarding the "spottable aircraft": room for improvement for the organisation.

Before F-16AM J-197 received her farewell tail, it could be seen wearing markings for the 70th anniversary of 312 squadron. 312 squadron is the last squadron flying the F-16 in the RNLAF.

Two Leeuwarden based F-16AMs take of to take part in the Air Power demo on 16-9-2011. The Air Power demo was a spectecular part in the Luchtmachtdagen, the Open Days of the RNLAF.

In 2005 the Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16 solo-display team used F-16AM J-055 as display aircraft. The livery used was called "sonic boom design". De demo pilot, Captain Ralph 'Sheik' Aarts 0f 313 squadron is here seen flying the display at Gilze-Rijen AB during the RNLAF Open-Days.

As September is the last month for the F-16 in service with the Royal Netherlands Air Force, we post one RNLAF F-16 photo per day.

F-16A block 15 J-631 carrying an Orpheus recce pod. The aircraft was assigned to 306 squadron in the reconaissance role from November 1983 to 2000. After conversion to Block 20 MLU it served with 311, 312, 313, 322 and 323 squadron. It was stored at Vliegbasis Volkel in August 2020.

Today we witnessed one of the Market Garden 80 events in the Netherlands. This time paratrooper droppings and an air assault demonstration of the 101st Airborne Division with the 11 Luchtmobiele Brigade. An extensive report on much more events remembering Market Garden soon on our website.

Leeuwarden Air Base said goodbeye to the F-16 in July 2021. For this occasion F-16AM J-144 received full color 323 squadron markings. Here it can be seen landing at Vliegbasis Leeuwarden on 9-6-2021.

F-16AM J-063 was the only F-16 in Dutch service with a MiG kill. It shot down a Serbian MiG-29 on 24-3-1999, flown by Major Peter "Wobble" Tankink. Here it is seen during night ops at Vliegbasis Volkel on 25-11-2019

In 1982 this F-16B was captured on short final to runway 24L at Vliegbasis Volkel, while a 306 squadron RF-104G is holding short of the runway.

As September is the last month for the F-16 in service with the Royal Netherlands Air Force, we post one RNLAF F-16 photo per day.

On 17-5-2008 this 311 squadron F-16AM was captured landing at Volkel AB. 311 squadron received its first F-16 in 1982. The squadron was disbanded on 27-9-2012.

When the war in Ukraine started, Volkel F-16s provided NATO air patrol missions near the Ukrainian border. On a daily basis two F-16s left fully armed to fly their mission.

The Romanian Air Force withdrew her last MiG-21 LanceRs from active duty. The final ceremony to mark over 60 years of flying the MiG-21 within the Romanian Air Force took place at Baza 95 Aeriana Bacau.
