Independent Media International (IMI) is an independent, Anglophone news initiative run by international as well as Dutch students from the Leiden University community amongst others. We have found, after extensive interviews with international students and young professionals, two types of media to be in great demand by both the foreign and Dutch student community: day-to-day news, covered by Dut

ch news sources made accessible to them and news, stories and regional events covered by those who live in a big city and are passionate to write about them. IMI is, in the first place, a platform for people who are interested in what is happening around them, both local and national. In addition to this, however, we would like to offer new opportunities to young yet ambitious journalists who have difficulty getting their news out there, but also work with those who enjoy sharing stories and events with others regardless of their nationality or country of origin.
