🎉 Exciting news! Hawar Tawfiq's orchestral work 'M.C. Escher's Imagination' has been selected for the ISCM World New Music Days. ISCM World New Music Days, one of the largest annual festivals of modern music, will take place in Portugal from May 30 - June 7 2025.

Tawfiq's work is one of 68 works selected for the festival by an international jury composed of composers and conductors. Tawfiq wrote 'M.C. Escher's Imagination' commissioned by the Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. The work was premiered at The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on 12 June 2022, by the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Stanislav Kochanovsky.

The world premiere of "Umbra" was a great succes in Paris! Umbra is a new double concerto by Seung-Won Oh for string orchestra, cello and ondes martenot. This Saturday, Musicus Society returns to Hong Kong to play the Asian premiere!

Last Saturday Renske Vrolijk's children's concert De neus (the Nose) received its premiere in Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam performed by the wonderful musicians of the Concertgebouworkest. In collaboration with Oorkaan.

This Thursday at Amare - Den Haag: the world premiere of Piano Sonata No. 1 "Re-sonances" by Robin de Raaff. Written for and performed by Ralph van Raat, who has premiered both of De Raaff's earlier Piano Concerto's, this piece fulfills his long-standing request for a solo piano composition. "Re-sonances" is inspired by their many years of friendship.

Can't make it this Thursday? Piano Sonata No. 1 "Re-sonances" is also featured on the concert on Friday November 15 at November Music.

Release day! On his new album, pianist Bobby Mitchell performs the Sonata for piano by Klaas de Vries, released by 7 Mountain Records.

On the occasion of this recording, we have published a new edition of the score. Until now, only a handwritten version was available, making this the first digital publication of the piece!

We are happy to announce that Renske Vrolijk has signed an exclusive publishing contract with Deuss Music! You might know her from , her semi-autobiographical music theatre performance from 2022 for the Nederlands Kamerkoor. This work reflects her journey as a composer, using her music to convey messages and emotions. For Vrolijk, that is the essence of her art: music as a means.

Coming up next is the family performance The Nose, a new commission from the Concertgebouworkest, which will premiere on 3 November at the Concertgebouw.

Wonderfeel celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. To mark this occasion, the festival commissioned 10 young composers to write a new piece on the subject 'How can we be good ancestors?' One of those composers was Camiel Jansen - Composer. He wrote the piece Fest for his own Ensemble Ikarai, Sterre Konijn, voice and duduk, and Kalina Vladovska, percussion & davul. All ten compositions can now be heard on Concertzender. Have a listen!

Listening tip! The live recording of the world premiere of Seung-Won Oh's Spiri II: Sheltered Ritual can now be heard on NPO Klassiek!

The first version of Bruckner's Fourth Symphony was seen as unplayable because of the elongated thematic groups and the sudden transitions of thematic material. Oh took Bruckner's stylistic elements as a starting point for Spiri II: Sheltered Ritual and weaved it into her own contemporary language. The result is a 50-minute orchestral work, with an essential role for the percussion.

On 14 September, New European Ensemble, conducted by Carlo Boccadoro, gave its world premiere at Bruckner Casco in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ. Want to listen again? After the Wonderfeel Festival on July 21st, Camiel Jansen will present the new work at the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam on August 31st!

The stage is filled with singer Sterre Konijn, percussionist Kalina Vladovska and ensemble Ikarai, consisting of pianist Julian Schneemann, drummer Jeroen Batterink, violinist Tessel Hersbach, violist Yanna Pelser and cellist Bence Huszar.

This performance promises to be a journey through sound, bridging cultures and emotions.

We zijn enorm enthousiast om componist Kate Moore te verwelkomen als de artist-in-residence 2024! Kate Moore woont in Amsterdam Oost en is niet zomaar een componist; ze heeft internationale erkenning verdiend en haar werken worden uitgevoerd door toonaangevende ensembles. Ze heeft verschillende prijzen op haar naam staan, waaronder de Gieskes-Strijbus Podiumprijs in 2022 en de prestigieuze Matthijs Vermeulenprijs in 2017. Bovendien heeft ze haar eigen ensemble, het Herz Ensemble, opgericht!

Van maandag 12 augustus t/m zondag 1 september zal ze in haar residentie werken aan het Ossenlied vanuit het onderzoeksproject A Beautiful Path. In de drie weekenden zijn er muzikale publieksactiviteiten met Kate Moore én gastartiesten waar jij aan kunt deelnemen.
