No rest for the musically possessed. We’re back with Iceland’s finest: Stilluppsteypa! 🐶🐶

With Schokolino Choco Loco, Icelandic duo Stilluppsteypa (aka Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson and Helgi Thorsson) brings a warped dispatch from the outside fringes of experimental sound—part valium-drenched dreamscape, part dadaistic radio hallucination. Like a nocturnal transmission from a parallel universe, the record drifts and mutates through layers of joyous abstraction, laced with a deadpan sense of humour, while at the same time it is strangely sensitive. This LP is less a collection of tracks than a slow-motion joyride through Stilluppsteypa’s singular sonic universe—so hypnotic and absurd, it ends up warming your heart.

Man of many wor(l)ds and top-level bon vivant, who could’ve become mayor of Rotterdam if he hadn’t spent half, or more than half, of his time in Belgium’s shadowy scenes—presenting Leon van Barneveld. Here’s what he has to say: "Nowadays, a lot of nice music pops up here and there, which is great. But there was a time when I didn’t know Futura Resistenza, and when they asked me to make a mix, I thought it would be ‘fun’ or ‘fair’ to put together a collection of songs I listened to a lot when I was in my twenties and didn’t know them yet. It’s a trip down memory lane, but isn’t that The Internet in general?"

Audio zawartość soundtracku, bo to chyba odpowiednie określenie dla tego materiału, otwiera kompozycja ensemble, która dosłownie powala swoją wzrastającą intensywnością. Przez chwilę wydawało mi się, że omyłkowo odpaliłem CD Non – Children of the black sun. Tak, z intensywnością przypominającą pustynny, gwałtowny wiatr, który smaga wszystko znajdujące się na jego drodze. Sonicznym źródłem tego fenomenu są nagrania dźwiękowe z jedenastu projektorów filmowych 16 mm, odtwarzanych jednocześnie i w odstępach czasu, tworząc dynamiczną, syreno podobną teksturę nadającą na jednej wysokości dźwięku – La/A.

Là (RESAE008) by Laszlo Umbreit, Sirah Foighel Brutmann & Eitan Efrat is out now!

“The pluralism of the title, like the works themselves, feels closer to a collective lament than an elegy: mourning the living as well as the dead, drawing on the material objects, the landscape and ephemera beyond the body, which is captured in the auditory and heightened sound of the road and wind, the weeds whispering their own language over the wind.”

Là is an immersive, politically charged sound journey, a lament for the Al Naqab desert in Palestine. A collaboration between Sirah Foighel Brutmann, Eitan Efrat, Laszlo Umbreit, and Ot Lemmens, it combines acoustic instruments with processed electronics and mechanical sounds. The album includes Ensemble, created from recordings of eleven 16mm film projectors, and live sessions by Umbreit and Efrat in For Her, There, and No. It also features an extended text by Rose Higham-Stainton titled Strategies for Survival. Available as a limited edition double 10-inch vinyl featuring a gatefold booklet cover.

Edge Games, the first ever duo album by Berlin-based musicians Jules Reidy and Sam Dunscombe will be out on April 29 via Futura Resistenza! Their first collaborative album after a decade of friendship and shared projects. 💙🤘

Although Berlin-based musical seekers Jules Reidy and Sam Dunscombe are friends who’ve worked together in numerous contexts over the last decade or so, Edge Games is their first, long overdue collaborative album. Over two expansive, mind-bending excursions the former’s microtonal guitar lines are woven into a gorgeously unstable mass of synthesis, field recordings, and clarinet produced by the latter, but it’s important to note that the recording process was deeply collaborative, with a rigorous yet generous back-and-forth between the duo’s sympathetic aesthetic tendencies. As Dunscombe earnestly jokes, “Think of it as being written by Jam Dundy, a synthetic person who exists when our powers combine.”

Jeugdbrand is the theatrical, playful improv combo of Dennis Tyfus (piano, guitar) and Jeroen Stevens (percussion and other instruments). Their latest work, 3 x hullo, hullo, released by Futura Resistenza, is a collection of fragmented snapshots where odd phrases and musical ideas collide. It's a series of disconnected sketches, where emotions shift quickly and the ride is anything but smooth. Boomkat previously described the duo as "theatrical and eccentric... Tyfus is at the top of his game here, panting and moaning as if completely isolated, while Stevens dabs random organ wisps over slow-moving sustained drones."

Not one, but two mixes to start the day tomorrow! 3rd Resistenza show for the monthly .radio Outsider series, presenting Hannah Todt (09:00) & Lucija Gregov (10:00). 🌞

Hannah Todt works with sound, vessels, metaphors, tubes, drawings, and words. She shares music by people she knows or wishes she knew–in the hope that music might liquefy the language solidified by words.

Lucija Gregov is a cellist and improviser creating mixtapes to soothe ears, souls, and minds. This mix may also bring contemplation about money, Jesus, loneliness, and dance for the end of time.

Jeugdbrand – Lonely, Sure, but It Is Getting Late and My Grandmother Is Calling [Futura Resistenza]

3 × hullo, hullo is the bizarre title of the bizarre new album from Jeugdbrand. Jeroen Stevens, who plays percussion, melodica and organ, has recently been playing with the iconic Belgian folk-classical-electronic-experimental ensemble DAAU; Dennis Tyfus, responsible for the terrifying vocals as well as piano, organ and tapes, founded the experimental label Ultra Eczema. They are joined for this album by Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson, also responsible for tapes, who is a founding member of cult experimental band Stilluppsteypa; and finally, Gerard Herman, best known as a visual artist, provides loops.
