On the 29th July, Pontoon Bookings hosted the last Instore Session at the Pinkman Store. Before the final closure of our beloved record shop, Pontoon's roster - Kimmah, Pim and Proper, Mowgli and Yopo - offered a fitting soundtrack to the last weekend.

The first half of 2022 is officially over, but the summer heat won’t be going anywhere soon. Likewise, this July Savage will continue to bring the heat to Hanoi with an exciting month filled with special guest DJs from all around the world!

For the first weekend of July, OBJoff will be hosting their first party outside of Saigon at Savage: “Xì Líp over Hà Lội,” bringing 6 DJs from Saigon and 3 from Hanoi for an extra fun sleepover party. The following night will be headlined by our first special guest of July: nd_baumecker, a Europe nightlife veteran with decades of experience, who will be playing in the Red Cube with Cong opening the show.

Our next special guest is Answer Code Request, a techno-wizard, who will spend one night with our resident DJs Di Linh and Manikk in the Anteroom, while Electric Bazaar's founder Useph will be starting the show in the Red Cube before Answer Code Request takes over the club.

The exciting month continues with the next special guest DJ Yuta (Japan), on the lineup with KMG in a Red Cube Only night on Friday, July 15th. The following night we will have not one, but two special guests: Claudio PRC and Kimmah. The lineup for that night will also feature JustHilda, Shandon, and Techa.

The night will kick off with our favorite drag performers from Peach and will continue with EDA KEDA, and Limsum on the Anteroom floor, while Min8, Elaheh, and Tobes will take over the Red Cube.

V Utrechtu rojena selektorka vietnamskih korenin je rezidenteka mlajšega kolektiva FOMO Rotterdam in del agencije Pontoon Bookings, pri kateri izstopa s konsistentnimi prvovrstnimi izbori temačnega, a vseeno razigranega 🪩 elektra, breakbeata in ghetto techa, pogosto oplemenitenega s punk in rap vokalnimi vložki.

Extinction Rebellion is a worldwide citizens' movement advocating for climate justice. The science is crystal clear; continuing to rely on fossil fuels while our planet is suffering is moral and economic madness. From 19th to the 24th of May they therefore target Rotterdam with actions to give a push to the harbour and municipality to transition to renewables. Of course, XR is not all about actions. ''Kimmah is fascinated by decaying concrete basements and forgotten industrial structures. It is those sort of places she soundtracks with her high-energy DJ sets which mix up raw, dark yet funky electro from all points on the spectrum. Her swift rise is a testament to the irresistible grit and sleaze of her selections, the infectious bump and grind of her beats, and the thrilling ghetto textures of her grooves.

Kimmah was born in Utrecht, spent some time studying in Berlin and settled in Rotterdam shortly before the pandemic hit. When it kept her away from the dance floor connections she loved so much, she decided to make them for herself. She spent the whole of lockdown locked up and working on some old CDJs and turntables. She came out the other side with a terminator DJ style that never lets up and draws on acid, breaks, ghetto, punk and rap vocals, nasty basslines or hard- hitting rhythm.

As a diminutive woman, Kimmah jokes, "I can usually only see the first row of hyped-up dancers and they really make my night. I know the vibe is right when everyone can lose themselves in the energy and the music and feel like they can dance however they want to." Along the way, she likes to tease in some of the more traditional sounds from her Vietnamese heritage alongside the physical sounds of Eastern Europe, Detroit, and of course the Netherlands' own famous West Coast.

It was for a Utrecht radio station in May 2021 that Kimmah made her debut after an invite from the colourful AMPFEMININE collective. Since then, she has played on radio stations all over the Netherlands as well as Greece and the UK, and has DJ at cult Dutch clubs like PIP Den Haag, BRET, SkateCafe, CULTUURPODIUM PERRON, and EKKO.

She is very much on the cusp of breaking through after some key support along the way and, in recognition of that, is looking to help make the scene as accessible as possible for other women of all colours, sexualities and genders. With Kimmah to look up to, we all have plenty to get excited about.''
