Today, I officially announced my emigration to the government… and suddenly, it all feels so real. In just one week, I’ll be leaving Rotterdam—the city that shaped me, challenged me, and gave me some of the most beautiful moments of my life.

This is where my dreams turned into reality, where I built a career with purpose, got the keys to my first apartment and where I met people and clients who became family. And, most of all: this is where I met my husband—the greatest gift God could have given me. 🥹❤️

Leaving isn't easy. My heart is full of gratitude, love, and a little bit of sadness.. But I know this journey is leading me exactly where I’m meant to be.

To everyone who has been a part of my beautiful journey: Thank you. A tear escapes my eye as I write this, because it feels so surreal and bittersweet. However, I know we will definitely meet again someday soon. And whenever you are in Manny, don't be a stranger! 🥰🫢

As for now, keep following my journey and enjoy the new ride with me.

..but this is how I discovered my purpose and turned it into my business. ⬇️

It was early 2020. I had just gone through a tough breakup and was navigating life in the midst of COVID. On top of that, I battled depression and even faced suicidal thoughts. This was the first time I felt at my lowest. But deep down, I knew God created me for something greater.

COVID did bring one positive: I had time to reflect. That's when I felt a strong urge to do something for the natural hair community— because I struggled with my own curls for years myself. I wanted to create a safe space where others wouldn’t have to go through that same frustration: a place where they could feel seen, confident, and supported.

With only a few thousand in my bank account, 0 clients, and working in a city I didn’t even live in, I took a leap of faith and launched my business. All it took was 1 Facebook post—and within two weeks, I gained 1K followers. I had no time to question God, because He kept opening doors I never imagined.

That’s when I knew this was my purpose: because it came with peace, never confusion, and aligned with God’s word. I used the talents He gave me to spread seeds of encouragement and love—empowering others to embrace themselves for the unique way God created them. Even when I thought about failing sometimes, He always found a way to keep me booked and busy.

God turned my weakness into strength and my test into a testimony. Despite everything I had been through, this was the first time in a long time that I felt happiness again. I found my calling and started to walk in it ever since. Now almost 5 years later and I can say that serving others has healed me in more ways than one. ❤️

If you’re wondering what your purpose is, remember this: God’s calling brings peace, not confusion. Trust the doors He opens and use the gifts He’s given you to pour into others. The results will always reflect His love. ✝️🌱

Singleness isn’t wasted — it’s a season where God shapes and prepares you for what’s next. 🌿

I ❤️ love, so trust me when I say this comes from someone who found it really hard to walk by faith even when I couldn't see what He was doing sometimes. God doesn't give you what you want, He gives you what you need! So don't settle for less and don't rush Him either. Seek Him, grow, and pursue your purpose instead. In His perfect timing, He will make it happen. ✨📝

I met my younger self for a coffee.. ☕️
.And it reminded me of something powerful: we get so caught up in what's next, that we forget to thank Jesus for how far He’s already brought us.

There were moments I thought I’d never heal, never find my voice, and never fully step into my purpose. But Jesus met me in every broken place— and carried me through with grace I didn’t deserve, but desperately needed.

Healing takes time, growth can be challenging and sometimes progress feels invisible. But if you take a moment to reflect, you’ll see just how far He’s led you — even when you didn’t realise it.

Be encouraged: your journey is sacred, and every step matters. Pause today and thank Him for the victories, no matter how small.

Allow me to hold your hand when I tell you this.. 👇🏽

No one’s hair looks perfect 24/7—not even mine. People see my curls today and compliment me, but they don’t know where I started or how much love, patience, and effort it took to get here.

Let this be your encouragement: don’t give up on your crown. Your journey is your own, and the most beautiful part is that you don’t have to do it alone. Save yourself from scrolling on Google, Instagram and Tiktok all the time.. Trying to find answers from people who just follow what's gone viral, instead of what's HEALTHY and BENEFICIAL. Find a curly hair specialist you trust—someone who can guide and support you every step of the way. Eventually you'll start to see the fruits of it!

Also: don't let anyone tell you your crown isn’t worth the extra mile. Okay, maybe our hair isn't done in 5 minutes. But it doesn't have to take 10 years either. Stop seeing your crown as a burden and start treating it as a part of you. How you feel from the inside, reflects on the outside, and loving yourself truly means loving every part of you—including your curls. The good, the defined, the voluminous, and yes, even the frizzy. 🤍

This is what stops you from achieving healthier curls🚫⬇️

Healthy, defined and/or voluminous curls start with avoiding these common mistakes! From hard water damage to skipping conditioner, these habits could be sabotaging your hair journey.

TRIMS.
"But Lakshana, my hair grows very slow." Well, waiting a whole year to cut your dead ends will only make the process go slower. Just like you need to cut off dead ends of flowers, in order for them to blossom—your hair does too!

HARD WATER DAMAGE.
We know that not washing regularly or using too much product on your scalp can cause build-up. But did you know hard water does too? This is why it's important to use a deep cleansing shampoo every 4-6 weeks to keep your crown healthy.

NIGHTTIME PROTECTION.
I know, we can all be a little bit lazy sometimes, but using satin or silk does make THE difference for the longevity and health of your curls.

TOO MUCH HEAT.
It’s surprising how heat protectors are a must for straight hair, yet so many curly-haired people skip this crucial step. If you use heat to dry your curls, don't forget to include a head protector to your routine and to not dry with too much heat!

SKIPPING CONDITIONER.
I mean, Lord knows I need a conditioner to get through my hair 😂 however, I used to have a lot of clients who didn't use a conditioner. Conditioner is a very crucial step in your curly hair routine, since it will affect the rest of your steps and eventually the longevity of your set. Never go without!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a part of this journey. Not everyone knows this, but I started Crowned in Purpose during the midst of COVID and when I was in a very dark place in my life.

Through my business, I found a new reason to enjoy life again. I was called to serve others and I'm so grateful that God gave me the opportunity to do so by doing the one thing I love: CURLY HAIR.

Not only did I have the honour to see happy faces leaving my chair, I also connected with over 1500 people. That's thousands of conversations. Laughter and tears. Celebrations and emotional support.

Crowned in Purpose opened doors for me that I never imagined it would. From collabs, to my own merch, coming on tv, standing on events.. it's been an amazing journey.

Clients often tell me how much I mean to them and what I've done for them, but you guys have no idea how much you've done for me too.
My innerchild has found healing in doing what she loves and that's loving and helping people as how Christ loves and helps us.

The messages, cards, love, spontaneous visits and all the gifts and flowers I've received have made me feel loved beyond measure.. I know I'm not "only a hairdresser" but you guys SHOWED that through and through 🥹🙏🏽

I'm excited for my next chapter.

Overwhelmed by so many lovely messages and love in general, in the most bittersweet time of my life. One hand, enjoying and celebrating life as a newly wed, other hand grieving because I am slowly letting go of the baby that led me to so many beautiful people and opportunities. But my God has never failed me, so if He did it before -- He will do it again! I am excited to share my next chapter and the future of CIP with you.

For me, it’s a blessing and a beautiful part of God's plan. 🤍 We chose to marry within 1.5 years because, for us, it wasn’t about the length of time, but the strength of our bond. Waiting until marriage might sound old-fashioned to some, but for us, it was one of the best decisions we made. We wanted our relationship to be built on more than just feelings or physical attraction. We wanted a foundation rooted in faith—a love that honoured God and allowed us to grow emotionally and spiritually together. The world often says marriage is just a piece of paper.. But God created it to be so much more—a beautiful promise that shows His love and faithfulness. Marriage isn’t just about the nice wedding day or having someone to fill your loneliness. It's about choosing and honouring each other every day, growing together and keeping Christ at the centre. Waiting wasn’t always easy, but it was worth it. There’s something powerful about knowing your relationship was built on trust, patience, and love that lasts—not just instant gratification. Social media shows the highlights — the smiles and the wins. But what people don’t see is the weight you might carry behind the scenes. The parts only Jesus truly sees. Running my salon business was something I truly loved, but it wasn’t always as effortless as it seemed. There were times I felt the weight of having to show up and meet expectations. On top of that, I was navigating a long-distance relationship —which is tough when your only connection is mostly through a screen. Then I had to plan a wedding in 2 months. My husband couldn’t be there for viewings or final decisions, so I carried the weight of making it all happen. And that wasn’t even the end of it. I was still taking care of clients, carrying the secret of moving away, packing up my entire life, and figuring out how to end my business in a way that honoured everything I’d built. On top of all that, my body fell out a few times which caused me to pause a few times from doing physical work. It was a lot. I felt like I was this 🤏🏽 close to burning out. But GOD. He became my calm in the chaos, my strength when I had none left. In the moments when I couldn’t see a way forward, His peace grounded me. He reminded me that I didn’t have to carry it all — because He was carrying me. And maybe that’s what you need to hear today. Life gets overwhelming. The weight feels impossible. But you don’t have to do it alone. Give it to Him. Trust Him with it all — the mess, the pressure, the uncertainty. His peace isn’t just nice words; it’s real, steady, and available right now. Let Him be your calm in the chaos. He did it for me, and I know He’ll do it for you too.
