In conclusion, the 17th iteration of the FASHIONCLASH Festival was not just an exhibition of fashion; it was a celebration of community, creativity, and cultural exchange. Its multifaceted programming and dedication to showcasing emerging talent were commendable, making it a significant event in the fashion calendar. Yet the oversight of the Dutch government in oppressing such a unique, empowering event is a disservice to the arts and culture sector. As we look forward to the next edition, we hope for greater support, recognition, and investment in the initiatives that champion creativity, community, and culture. This festival is our pride, and together we stand to ensure its enduring legacy.

De deelnemers van FashionClash editie zeventien erkenden hoe complex het leven in zijn volle gelaagdheid is en demonstreerden de vereiste flexibiliteit van jonge mensen door de dimensies van stof - materiaal dat kan rekken en terugveren, dat zorg en geborgenheid kan geven, maar ook kan verstikken. Stof als trampoline, als wieg, als iets stevigs waar je je aan vast kunt houden of iets dat je onder druk uit balans brengt. Stof om over je hoofd te trekken en je volledig in te verhullen, of om samen iets mee te dragen - elk aan het andere eind. Stof die zo stevig is dat je erop kunt bouncen, of waardoor je juist uit balans wordt gebracht.

Niet het label op de kleding, maar de vele vormen die materiaal op een lijf kan aannemen, maken mode relevant - daarvan lijkt de nieuwe generatie ontwerpers zich scherp bewust.

The FASHIONCLASH Festival Afterparty invites you to celebrate unity, empowerment, and the power of making our voices heard. Standing individually and authentically, our voices become even louder together.

For this project FC collaborates with artists . In addition fashion designer is supporting the workshops. will be one of the performers alongside workshop participants and students 🥳

Leading to the Afterparty, a series of movement & voice and fashion making workshops are organized at .maastricht . Results from the workshops and participants will be part of the performances happening during the Afterparty.

Join us for an evening of fashion, music, dance, and performance, where we embrace individuality and create a strong, inspiring community.

Meet the writer: Fashion Makes Sense exhibition, workshops and talk ✨

Fashion Makes Sense is FASHIONCLASH’s participatory programme, bringing together professionals and young creatives to co-create. On the 3rd floor of , discover “Mensen Dragen Mensen” (People Carrying People) — a project developed with and partners for Heiligdomsvaart Maastricht, featuring costumes, banners, and objects made in the Centre Céramique pop-up atelier by participants (ages 3–70+) made from recycled textiles collected via Rd4 Reinigingsdiensten.

* Upcycled garments from Ecopolitan Magazine
* Outfits by Kunstbende Fashion winner Tara de Smit
