Looking back on a beautiful procession yesterday 🩵

From our archive: Heiligdomsvaart 2018 ‘KOORKAPPEN’ (choir robes)

In 2018, FASHIONCLASH featured a fashion procession called "KOORKAPPEN". This procession involved models showcasing designs inspired by liturgical garments in a parade through Maastricht, accompanied by live music and a performance in collaboration with GOTRA. Followed by an exhibition at the
during the 10th edition of the FASHIONCLASH Festival.

This month (15 and 20 June) FASHIONCLASH is participating again! Together with theatre maker Noah Janssen, FASHIONCLASH has created a contemporary approach to this centuries-old tradition. 'Mensen dragen Mensen' (People carry People) connects the concept of a traditional religious procession with contemporary themes such as community spirit and caring for each other and our environment.

Spot us along the route 👀

Since medieval times, thousands of pilgrims have gathered every seven years in Maastricht for the Heiligdomsvaart, one of the oldest religious traditions in the Netherlands, showcasing the relics of Saint Servatius.

In 2025, the tradition continues with two ‘Ommegangen’: a city procession on Sunday 15 June, and for the first time, one on the river Maas on Sunday evening 22 June.

Together with theatre maker Noah Janssen, FASHIONCLASH presents Mensen dragen Mensen (People carry People) a living artwork that blends tradition with contemporary themes such as community spirit and caring for each other and our environment. This project is more than a performance; it is a living artwork that serves as an artistic and social experiment.

FASHIONCLASH Fashion Procession 2011

In 2011, FASHIONCLASH presented the ‘Fashion Procession’ project in cooperation with Heiligdomsvaart Maastricht. A fashion procession featured models showcasing creations inspired by liturgical garments and textiles. Right after that, the third edition of the FASHIONCLASH Festival took place on June 10, 11, and 12, aligning with the same theme.
This month (15 and 22 June) FASHIONCLASH is participating again! Together with theatre maker Noah Janssen, FASHIONCLASH has created a contemporary approach to this centuries-old tradition. LEZING - 20 mei Toneelacademie Maastricht

Wil je meer weten over de geschiedenis van Heiligdomsvaart Maastricht?

In juni 2025 vindt de Heiligdomsvaart weer plaats in Maastricht – een religieus én cultureel evenement dat slechts eens in de zeven jaar georganiseerd wordt.
Om meer context te geven bij de achtergrond, betekenis en actualiteit van de Heiligdomsvaart organiseren we op dinsdag 20 mei een inspirerende avond met lezingen en gesprekken.

Deze bijeenkomst is onderdeel van het project ‘Mensen dragen Mensen’ van FASHIONCLASH i.s.m. theatermaker Noah Janssen voor de Heiligdomsvaart 2025, en biedt bovendien een mooie kans om Maastricht op een nieuwe manier te leren kennen.

Ontwerp samen met kunstenaars en studenten unieke outfits en accessoires van gerecycled materiaal. Iedereen is welkom om aan de slag te gaan.
