Hoe Toneelacademiestudent Kees Huisman de magie van make-up ontdekte - Queer Stories #4
“Best wel cool dat ik dit kan, dat ik mezelf er heel anders uit kan laten zien,” vertelt Kees Huisman in de (voorlopig) laatste aflevering van Queer Stories. Kees is het ‘gezicht’ van deze podcastserie en studeert aan Toneelacademie Maastricht. Tijdens zijn middelbareschooltijd in Deventer ontdekte hij de magie van make-up. Zijn slaapkamer was het toneel van zijn experimenten. Het resultaat van zijn looks stuurde hij vervolgens via selfies naar zijn vrienden.

Zijn liefde voor Grace Jones, de vrije jaren 80, zijn bijzondere reizen én de droom hier een tv-programma over te maken: in de derde aflevering van de podcastserie ‘Queer Stories’ van FASHIONCLASH leer je Marcel Leenders kennen in een aaneenschakeling van anekdotes. Hij vertelt over zijn carrière als Madame Gisela, die startte op vrijdag 13 augustus 1982 in een café in Maastricht. Behind the Scenes - Fashion Film Project 2024
On Saturday 16 November, three short fashion films, produced by FASHIONCLASH as a result from the Fashion Film Project 2024, will premiere during the Awards & Premiere event at Lumière Cinema 🎬
▪️ ‘m i k’ by Pablo Salvador Willemars, Klaar Straatman & Lianca van der Merwe, with guidance of Flo Meijer
‘▪️ A Breathe Moment’ by Jodie Cranen, Leda Spiranec, Povilas Gegevicius & Hsin Min Chan, with guidance of Puck Litaay.
▪️ ‘The Act of Purification’ by Coco Simons, Thi Lan Huong Le & Tobias van Nieuwenhove, with guidance of Daniel van Hauten.
The teams first met during the Fashion Film Bootcamp in June 2024 at Centre Céramique –the starting point of a meaningful creation process, that is made possible by the Meester Koetsier Foundation and Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie.

Leading up to the party, we will host a series of movement and fashion making workshops under the guidance of experienced dancers & performers and fashion designers!
Do you dare to take the stage and express yourself? Join workshops and become a living legendary statue, assist in the performances and/or join group performances at the Afterparty!
Participation in both workshop series is free and experience to join is not required. The Fashion workshops take place in Maastricht and are guided by Tessa van den Eeden and Max Niereisel and the Movement workshops are guided by Jento Schaf, Mikael De Geyter and Renzo Pepers.

Je hoeft niet op een modeopleiding te zitten of deze ambitie te hebben. Maar zou je dit wel willen, dan kun je met dit project alvast wat ervaring op doen. Volg je al een MBO modeopleiding? Dan is dit ook een kans om je portfolio uit te breiden! Deelname is gratis en je ontvangt een vergoeding voor reiskosten als je in de regio Tilburg woont. ℹ️ Wat is een craft? Craft is het Engelse woord voor am·bacht (het; o; meervoud: ambachten); vak waarbij je iets met de hand maakt. In de praktijk is een ambacht veel breder dan alleen een vak waarbij je iets met je handen maakt. Het gaat er vooral om hóe het product is gemaakt; unieke objecten met precisie (oog voor detail) en maatwerk. Bij crafts in mode kun je denken aan kleding maken, weven of borduren maar ook aan bandweven, tuften, bead worken of schoenmaken.
Dit project wordt mede mogelijk gemaakt door Gemeente Tilburg, Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie, Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie en Art-fact Tilburg.

Open Call for entries: Apply now for the Exhibition Program of FASHIONCLASH Festival 2024: New Fashion Narratives.
Continuing the positive experience of a pilot in 2023, five independent fashion practitioners were invited by FASHIONCLASH to form a curatorial team and collaborate on the concept for the New Fashion Narratives exhibition.
✨ The curatorial team includes Chaewon Kong, Karime Salame, Katharina Spitz, Simon Marsiglia and Teresa Carvalheira – a group of fashion practitioners with various backgrounds and practices within and beyond the fashion landscape. They first met in April 2024 during a physical Residency Week in Maastricht.
ℹ️ The New Fashion Narratives exhibition will be built around the idea of the collaborative game ‘Exquisite Corpse’ . This metaphor serves as a framework to present works that result from collaborative and/or transdisciplinary practices pushing the boundaries of future fashion practices

FASHIONCLASH is organizing a 5-day residency in Maastricht (24-28 June 2024) centred around the theme of fashion and decoloniality in the context of the Netherlands.
What does decoloniality mean in the context of the Netherlands? The aim of this residency is not to come up with answers, but create a safe and fertile space for thinking, reflecting, exchanging thoughts and experiences, and eventually posing new questions, that might lead to new projects. The outcome of the residency will be featured in the programme of the Global Fashioning Assembly 2024 (GFA24).
This residency is open for everyone from all walks of life, who identify as a fashion practitioner. Experience within the theme is not required; motivation for participation, availability, flexibility and interest in working with others is more important. Interested in participating? FASHIONCLASH and Amarte are joining forces to offer artists, from disciplines other than fashion, the opportunity to experiment with fashion and present new work during FASHIONCLASH Festival (15-17 November 2024) in Maastricht.
We are looking for 3 artists with an intrinsic motivation and curiosity to relate to fashion as a discipline. If you are 1 of the selected artists, you will be linked by FASHIONCLASH to a fashion maker to develop new work. The work that is developed is the artistic property of the duo and is created from an equal position of the artist and the fashion maker.

Join workshops & win a budget to make a fashion film!
🎬 Are you interested to learn more about filmmaking, get inspired by working together with makers from other disciplines and get the chance to actually co-create a fashion film? This is your chance! On Tuesday 4 June 2024 a 1-day Fashion Film Bootcamp will take place in Maastricht, including workshops of Lisa Konno, Luka Kluskens and Sam Bassett of SHOWstudio!
🎤 On Wednesday 12 June, all teams are invited to (online) pitch a proposal. 1 team will be awarded with a budget of €10.000, to realize the film under guidance (and in collaboration) with an experienced film maker. The brand-new fashion film will premiere during FASHIONCLASH Festival 2024 on Friday 15 November at Lumière Cinema in Maastricht.
