Let’s talk about brands who are killing it on socials but more importantly, why? 💥
There’s this huge misconception in the eyes of many (social media) marketeers that whichever brand you work for, needs to be on every single social media platform. This fear that if you’re out of sight, you’re out of mind, which may be true in some cases but not always. Noise making on social media can certainly lead to more attention and engagement but it could also influence how people perceive your brand as being authentic and therefore, pretentious.
If your brand is not meant to necessarily increase conversation through social media marketing, but to simply have some form of visibility online, it’s important to ask yourself how else your brand could add value to those who follow/subscribe to you on socials? Mind you, there’s a very small percentage of people who choose to follow brands socials since they’re interested in their latest offers, discounts and anything meant to directly increase sales (no one wants to be bombarded by ads all day, especially not when they’ve actively made the choice to follow you on socials; so don’t confuse the importance of your organic and paid social media strategy!).
Wendy’s, one of the largest fast food chains in the US, is probably also one of the most successful brands utilizing social media today, particularly on platforms like X. And quite frankly, I’m pretty sure you’ve come across one of their posts on socials that at some point in time, have gone viral!
The company isn’t using social media to make noise about its latest hamburger sandwich but has instead adopted a very humorous and savage approach to social media. From roasting other brands (competitors) and followers with its spicy comebacks through humor to capitalizing on current trends and remaining current, Wendy’s is often accredited for maintaining consistency on social media and has therefore been incredibly successful at being able to resonate with younger demographics.
What are your thoughts on Wendy’s social media approach? Let me know! 👇🏼
