Race

Day 4
With no wind, participants used the opportunity to unwind by engaging in various activities like sports and card games at the club while awaiting announcements from the Race Committee (RC). However, the wind conditions never exceeded a mere 2 knots within the designated racing area. Consequently, at 15:00, the RC made the decision to hoist the AP flag over the Alpha flag, officially concluding the day’s proceedings.
This outcome means that the standings remain unchanged from the previous day. Sailors can now look forward to more races scheduled for both tomorrow and Sunday, hopeful for better wind conditions to facilitate the competition.

The ILCA 7 sailing competition is being divided now into Gold and Silver fleets. You’ll have the opportunity to track the progress of both the Gold ILCA 7 and ILCA 6 championships through online GPS tracking here:

Race Day 3

Day 3. The forecast was rain in the morning until about 9:00 am with a wind force of 10-12 knots. The last one came out but the rain kept surprising us. Only after 12:00 the rain stopped and the sun sometimes showed his face.
Three races were scheduled and all three could be sailed. Two games are scheduled for tomorrow. The weather forecast of the different weather stations for tomorrow are very different so that remains to be seen.

Race Day 2

Today was the first sailing day because yesterday everything was cancelled due to too much wind.
The first race was started with 20-25 knots of wind in the beginning, later the wind decreased to 16 knots but still with outliers to 25 knots of wind during the rain showers. Three race were taken to make it up for the missed races from yesterday. Three more races are scheduled for tomorrow.

Provided below are the initial provisional results, pending the Jury’s determinations.

AP over Alpha was raised early in the morning due to 50 knots of wind in the racing area.
Situation in the harbour is under control but it’s wild out there so we are happy about the decision made by the RC.
Forecast announces fairly similar conditions for tomorrow 🌧️🥶although a little bit lighter winds. Let’s say 18-28 knots 😬🤞

2023 ILCA U21 Europeans & Open European Trophy

Today is the first day of the 2023 ILCA U21 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

155 ILCA 7 sailors and 75 ILCA 6 from 36 nations will compete for championship in ILCA 7 and in ILCA 6 in the coming week.
The weather forecast is uncertain for the coming days and depends on which weather station you consult. Today it is cloudy, but the rain is expected with an increasing wind force. For tomorrow, values from 4 to 5 are indicated with outliers to 6.
The temperature is also not high there 15 -16 degrees. Later in the week the wind will decrease but rain will remain.

Race Day 6 – 2023 ILCA 6 Youth Europeans

The day started with a small sun but almost no wind. The sun disappeared and rain took its place. The wind was under 3 knots and if there was any more wind it came from all sides. No basis for a racing. A postponement of two hours was announced followed by a postponement indefinitely which ultimately resulted in no more races because the last race was not allowed to start after 16:00.

Race Day 5 – 2023 ILCA 6 Youth Europeans
The penultimate day of the 2023 ILCA 6 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy regattas concluded today in Gdynia, Poland.

The sailors and the Race Committee faced considerable challenges on the water due to the highly unstable weather conditions. Throughout the day, they encountered a mix of rain and sun, along with unpredictable fluctuations in wind strength and direction. These constantly shifting elements led to the abandonment of numerous races and several APs (postponements). It proved to be a very long and demanding day for all involved in racing.
With 3 new races completed by most of the fleets (Boys’ Silver had 2 and Boys’ Bronze only 1), the following are the new provisional results before Jury’s decisions.

Race Day 4 – 2023 ILCA 6 Youth Europeans

The Final series started today at the 2023 ILCA 6 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy in Gdynia, Poland.
With winds ranging from 10 to 16 knots and medium waves, the sailing conditions have been perfect, bringing delight to the 381 competing sailors. Originally, the plan was to conduct three races per fleet, taking advantage of these fantastic conditions. However, a sudden rainstorm interrupted the proceedings, leading to the organizers directing all the sailors back to the harbor with two new races for the fleets in Charlie’s course (Boy’s Gold, Silver and Bronze) and only one new race for the rest of the fleets in Bravo’s area (Girl’s Gold and Silver and Boy’s Emerald).

Race Day 3 2023 ILCA 6 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy in Gdynia, Poland.

Today marked the conclusion of the Qualifying series at the 2023 ILCA 6 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy in Gdynia, Poland. The day began bright and early with the first warning signal at 08:30.
The sailing conditions presented some challenges as the wind fluctuated and shifted throughout the day, never reaching higher than 9-10 knots. Unfortunately, a few races had to be abandoned in the morning due to these conditions. However, luck was on our side as the RC and sailors eventually managed to complete one new race per fleet before returning to shore.
With the Qualifying series now behind them, both the Girls’ and Boys’ championships progress to the Final series, with five races on scores.

The weather was perfect for sailing, reminiscent of champagne conditions, offering sailors an ideal and delightful experience on the water. Eastern wind varying from 10 to 15 knots and the following are the results after 4 races;

2023 ILCA 6 Youth Europeans Day 1

Both the sailors and the Race Committee faced a multitude of challenges due to the unpredictable and changeable weather conditions. The day proved to be a test of skill and adaptability as the participants contended with a mix of rain, clouds, and intermittent sunshine. The weather exhibited a pattern of instability, with sudden shifts and fluctuations. Consequently, there were instances where races had to be abandoned due to either significant wind drops or drastic shifts in wind direction. As a result, participants experienced prolonged waiting periods while new procedures were being arranged to ensure fair racing conditions.

After spending all the afternoon on water dealing with the elements, the following are the first provisional results;

2022 EURILCA MASTER EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS, L’Escala, Spain, from 7-13 October

The day started cloudy but now (10.00 am) the sky is clear blue, with sun and a wind force 3. Gradually the master sailors come in. In the meantime, a group of masters is training with a coach? . For this training they have been able to register in advance.

The club has made a lot of effort to organize this event well, so a large tent has been set up for all the social events, such as the opening ceremony, award ceremony and the after regatta snacks.

2022 Nederlands Kampioenschap ILCA 6 en 7 en Klasse evenement ILCA 4, Medemblik.

In drie dagen werd het NK in de ILCA 6 en ILCA 7 verzeild bij Medemblik. Het wedstrijdcomité van Hollandia wist 8 wedstrijden in de drie klassen te starten onder moeilijke weersomstandigheden. We kijken terug op een geweldig evenement met uitdagingen voor iedere zeiler. We danken het comité voor hun inspanningen, en kijken uit naar een herhaling volgend jaar.

2022 EURILCA 4 YOUTH EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS, Dziwnow,Poland

This ILCA 4 event will be held from June 18 till 25,
The first day was one of a long wait ashore. Around 10 o'clock in the morning there was 4-5 knots of wind but around half past 11 there was only 2-3 knots left. The sailors had to wait until 15.00 after which they heard that no races could be sailed today.

Day 3 2022 EurILCA Europa Cup POLAND
Light to medium wind conditions of around 6-9 knots allowed the Race Committee to recover some of the races lost yesterday due to lack of wind, being finally 3 for the ILCA 4 and 6 for the ILCA 6 and ILCA 7. There was a 4th race completed today by the ILCA 4 yellow group but not the blue one, so it had to be discarded.
Many black flags were delivered within the starts today, mainly for the anxious ILCA 4 Youth sailors practicing for the 2022 EurILCA 4 Youth European Championships coming in the next days here in Dziwnow.
Strong wind in the first day, super light wind in the second and medium wind in the third day made all the 219 participants to try and enjoy of diverse sailing conditions.

Day 2 2022 EurILCA Europa Cup POLAND

Very light wind conditions allowed only 1 race per fleet to be held on the second day of competition at the 2022 EurILCA Europa Cup POL in Dziwnow, Poland.
This way the ILCA 7 and ILCA 6 fleets count 4 races on scores, while the ILCA 4 counts only one.
Lithuanian sailor Vejas Strelciunas LTU is the new ILCA 7 overall and U21 leader with 5 points, followed by Martis Pajarskas LTU and Valeriy Kudryashov with 11. Jakub Halouzka CZE, Stanislaw Klimaszewski POL and Maxime Thommen POL (first U19) are also close with 13 units.
U17 sailor Filip Olszewski POL continues to lead the ILCA 6 fleet with 4 points, followed now by the new U19 leader Marek Szczepankowski POL and Filip Kapala POL with 15. The Women’s championship is led by Dominika RaszkaPOL with 16, in the 4th place overall. Jan Krawczyc POL is fifth with 19 units.

2022 EurILCA European Cup, Dziwnow, Poland will be held from 14-06-2022 to 16-06-2022.

Following this event, the EurILCA 4 European Championship 2022 will be held at the same location. The first day of the European Cup was a day with 14 to 16 knots of wind. The wind was almost straight at the entrance to the harbor which made the water in the harbor mouth more like the water in a washing machine, high waves of more than a meter from all directions. This was for the organization reason not to send the ILCA 4 out. A completely justified decision because suppose someone in the harbor mouth would get into trouble, rescue is very risky. The waves further out at sea were less extreme than in the harbor mouth. Three races were sailed under comparative conditions.
Race Day 1 Results – ILCA 7
32 sailors from 10 nations are being part of the ILCA 7 fleet, currently led by Martis Pajarskas LTU, draw in 11 points with Valeriy Kudryashov UKR. Third place overall for Stanislaw Klimaszewski POL with 13.
Race Day 1 Results – ILCA 6
The ILCA 6 fleet is formed by 45 sailors and it’s actually led by the U17 sailor Filip Olszewski POL with 4 points. Second place overall for the U19 leader Filip Kapala POL with 15. Third place overall for the girl’s leader Dominika Raszka POL with 16. Jan Krawczyc POL is fourth with 19 units.

2022 EURILCA under 21 European Championships, Hourtin France

Yesterday was the opening ceremony in Hourtin Plage where the mayor opened the event and prepared a joint meal for the sailors.

Today is the first race day of the Laser EC under 21. In the Laser 7 (Standard) 110 sailors and in the Laser 6 (Radial) 61 from 36 countries will participate.
The regatta is on one of the largest lakes in France.

The first start was scheduled at 11.00 hours but was postponed after which the sailors went on the water at 13.00 hours. The first start was then scheduled at 14.00 hours. This became 14.30. The ILCA 6 (radial) started first followed by two groups of ILCA 7.
The wind strength was between 4 and 10 knots with very varying directions. All groups sailed two races.

Crowdfunding to support the 18 ILCA sailors from the ILCA Ukrainian team.

The Executive Committee of EurILCA (European Region of ILCA) has launched this crowdfunding to support the 18 ILCA sailors from the ILCA Ukrainian team and their coaches.
Those 18 Ukrainian sailors were outside of Ukraine, training or racing, when the war started. They can’t go back home as most of them are from Kiev or Odessa. They are looking desperately for help and support in order to keep sailing and competing.
EurILCA is the organization in Europe who is in charge of organizing the European championships, Europa Cup and EurILCA Master series for ILCA dinghy. The association unites 42 European districts and coordinates the development of sailing in the ILCA Class.
On the side of the EurILCA (European Region of ILCA) we are giving our best to support them and have hosted those sailors under our solidarity program and we will support them financially as much as we can.
The money we are collecting will solely go to the ILCA Ukrainian Team to support traveling, training and racing.
EurILCA is collecting the money and will reverse it to the members of the team in coordination with Sofia Naumenko, ILCA 6 sailor.
EurILCA is an establish Sport Association in Geneva (Switzerland) and the accounts of the EurILCA are audited every year by 2 auditors who report to the European annual general assembly who is voting the accounts.

2022 EurILCA Europa Cup Laser ESP

The first of the 2022 EurILCA Europa Cup Trophy’s regattas concluded this afternoon in Port de Pollença, Spain.
An impeccable organization by the Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença and great sailing conditions allowed all 8 scheduled races to be played for the ILCA 7 and ILCA 6 fleets, and 7 races for the ILCA 4.
Today the wind was lighter than the previous days, as well as the swell on course, with a breeze varying from 8-12 knots.
Traditional paella was served to all the sailors and staff after the races while waiting for the prizes at the Closing Ceremony.
Everyone was really happy to be here and enjoying of this fantastic championship, the first one we manage in this beautiful sailing spot. Congrats to the organisers and we hope we can repeat it!

Great sailing conditions enlightened the first day of races today in Port de Pollença, Spain, where the first of the 2022 EurILCA Europa Cup Trophy’s event is being held.
A nice 1-1.5 meters swell and 15-20 knots of wind allowed the ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 to complete 3 races, while the ILCA 4 completed 2 of them.

2022 European Cup Laser ESP – Pollensa, Spain.
After two years of corona and a long winter, we hope for an upcoming "normal" sailing season. I travelled to Palma de Mallorca where the 2022 European Cup Laser will be held in the north, Pollenca. On these kinds of places automatically hang the words sun, sea and beach, but we can now exchange the word sun for rain. In other words, it's not great holiday weather! The outlook is not much better and winds of up to 35 knots are forecast. Several Laser sailors combine this event with the Sofía Regatta in a few weeks in s'Arenal on the other side of this island. In Pollenca Eurilca media will cover the 2022 European Cup Laser on the site of Eurilca.

De weervoorspellingen waren niet die je wenst op je verjaardag maar gelukkig kwamen ze niet uit. We begonnen de dag met zon en een windkracht 3-4 met uitlopers naar 5. Fantastisch zeil weer. Later de dag nam de wind toe tot gemiddeld 5 knopen een de zeilers kwamen na 4 wedstrijden dan ook vermoeit maar voldaan van het water waar een warme "hellinghap" op hen wachte. Morgen weer 4 wedstrijden.
