In November, we took you to Slush with us. It was an amazing event, with many inspiring people and companies. We got a lot of new ideas and came back with a fresh perspective on our business! 🤩

In November Twente Board has created a new Greenzeen. 💻 This isn’t their first Greenzeen, Twente Board is one of our first customers and we already created a Greenzeen with them last spring. It is always exciting to start a partnership and especially as a start-up. Therefore, we would also like to thank Twente Board for their trust in our service. 🤝

In the report they present new projects. In it, the participants and the people behind the projects have their say about. Because in the end, of course, it's all about them. It’s an inspiring Greenzeen with a lot of stories of a very diverse group of people. 💪

Today is a Dutch national day, but we find this one too important not to share with the rest of the world. 🌐 Today is the day to change your password. Let’s be honest, you need a password for almost everything nowadays. And therefore it’s convenient to just choose one that you can easily remember and maybe use for more than just one platform… 🔑

As a SaaS company, our passwords are important, not just for ourself, but also for you as a user to ensure the safety of your Greenzeen. So we - as online nerds - want to give you some tips for the safety of your passwords and thereby your (personal) documents. 📚

😅 Don’t go for the most obvious choice of passwords. We know “welcome2022” is super easy to remember, but also easy to guess.

⚙️ Use a password generator. This will create a code made of letters, numbers and figures, which makes it more hard to guess by a hacker.

🖥 Don’t write them down on paper or in a document on your PC. This is easily accessible for anyone who will dig in your PC.

🔐 Disadvantage of those coded passwords is remembering the order of all characters. Using a password manager (with two step verification or password) to automatically fill in your passwords will help you remember every password.

🙅‍♀️ Change your passwords once or twice a year. This will ensure the safety of your (important) documents.

Well, Greenzeen officially reached 100%. 🥳 For everyone who is subscribed to our newsletter (if you’re not, this is your sign, because there is more to come) already knows. Today is our first official day at Slush! 🤩 We are all set for a day of networking, talking and hopefully inspiring people, as well as getting inspired by other start-ups. 💪 Yesterday we had the opportunity to meet many other entrepreneurs, attend a pitch-event and listen to several speakers. It was a full, but very successful first day in Helsinki! 🎉

Yesterday we arrived in Helsinki, Finland and our Slush adventure started! 🤩
In our stories we keep you posted on everything we do, see and experience. 👀 Yesterday we met everyone from the Dutch group of entrepreneurs. Afterwards we had drink and dinner at the Dutch embassy.

This week Tom and Mathijs are at Slush in Helsinki. 🇫🇮 For everyone who doesn’t know what Slush is, it’s the worlds leading start-up event. 🤩 We know, it feels like Greenzeen has been here forever, but we are still a toddler in the world of SaaS companies. 💪

Together with a delegation of Dutch entrepreneurs they will visit this big event and get inspired by other (start-up) companies, speakers and hopefully inspire others with our product. And because we are so excited that we’re visiting this large start-up event, we want to share some of our experiences. 📹

Last week we hosted our first event and planted the first trees in our own Greenzeen-forest. 🌳 Together with the team and some of you we had an amazing afternoon. Huge thank you to , who gave a tour through his own foodforest, told about the impact of a foodforest has on the climate and helped out with the planting. 🌱

To give an impression about the day we want to share some of the photo’s that were made by . We had an absolute blast with the team and everyone that came. 🤩

About our forest…🌱

Tomorrow the day is finally there and we are super exited! We're hosting our first tree-planting-event and like to share some of the background behind our forest. It isn’t your average forest, because we are starting a food forest. This means that there will be a diverse planting of edible plants that attempts to mimic the ecosystems and patterns found in nature. 🌍

By planting trees we compensate our CO2 emission, but thereby also give back to nature. In a food forest you let nature do natures work and everything goes their own way. Once it is established, it is generally very resilient. 💪

A food forest is built out of different layers. The first is the root-layer, secondly herbaceous-layer and thirdly the scrub-layer. That is the base and on top of that we plant all different kind of plants and trees. 👨‍🌾

You can find our Greenzeen forest, it’s just outside of Enschede, the Netherlands. Take a walk and see how together we make the world a bit more eco-friendly. 🌳

Last Sunday it was International day of Checklists. Seems like a good time to share our checklist with you, to help a bit in advance of your first Greenzeen. Here are some of the essentials you need for your first Greenzeen. The first Greenzeen checklist! Excited? Absolutely!🤩

💡 Know your subject. It sounds super obvious, but sometimes it’s the hardest part of all. It makes sure you have consistency in your stories and not go to far off your subject.

🎨 Know the style you want to go with. This can mean the style of your writing, but also the colors and fonts to use. Maybe your Greenzeen comes out every season, then change the colors to that theme, but make sure people still recognize your brand.

🎤 Schedule your interviews well in advance. Maybe you want a few interesting people to have a word in your Greenzeen. But they also need to make time in their calendar for you.

📸 Don’t judge a book by its cover. Well in this case you probably should. Just like with an offline magazine the cover is the first thing your audience sees. The front page needs to trigger the reader and get them excited about the rest.

👥 Get the team together. Of course you can do this alone, but working together and thereby dividing the tasks, makes hard work light and it’s more fun. Greenzeen makes it possible to work together on one project.

We have a fun update for October! A lot of things happened so we’d like to take you through everything that has been happening and is coming! 🤩

⚙️ We are very close already! The past few weeks our developers have been busy making sure everything is running smoothly as we had our first real user because....

📖 Novel-T created and published our first Greenzeen! It turned out to be a beautiful edition full of inspiring stories. Novel-T also helped us a lot in further developing the tool. The other day we had already shared this great news, but we are so proud of this pleasant collaboration. 🤝

🌐 And finally the Greenzeen site got an upgrade! Now that we are so close, we want to give you as a user a good impression about us and all the possibilities and advantages of Greenzeen. 🏅

It was a good month, with many goals achieved and looking forward to the coming time where we will get even further in the development of Greenzeen! We are super proud to let you know that Novel-T has published their first Greenzeen. 📥 Novel-T created this edition (almost) all by themselves and published a beautiful Greenzeen following their event last month. Full of inspiring people, stories and even an after-movie. 🖥

For us, this is a big step towards launching Greenzeen and therefore we’re extra proud to share it. The magazine is full of the Next Icons of the future, entrepreneurs who have created beautiful companies in all different directions. 🏅

It's World Animal Day! Now we have some great animal lovers on our Greenzeen-team and we are giving them an extra bit of love today as well. 🐾

In addition, we at Greenzeen want to do our bit for nature. By planting trees we also create a habitat for animals. This is important to make the world a pleasant living environment for people and animals. 🌍

Winter is coming. ❄️

The days are getting shorter and that means we will use more electricity. To still get through these days as sustainably as possible, we are sharing (online) tips for you that will also reduce your sustainable footprint. 🌍

💻Turn off your computer at the end of the day. Not on sleep mode, no, really off! On stand-by the power consumption of both desktop and a laptop computer falls to about a third. Turning off your computer completely, then of course it does not use any power.

And start using Greenzeen! We launch soon and help you reduce your sustainable footprint. 🌱

September 22 is international car-free-day! 🚗 At Greenzeen, we want to do our part to make the world a better place. So we are compensating your CO2 emissions caused by making and publishing an online magazine. 🌱 However, it's even better to leave your car at home once in a while. 🙅‍♀️

Fact: for every liter of gasoline you use, 2269 grams of CO2 are released. For every liter of diesel it is 2606 grams and for LPG 1610 grams. ⛽

Did you leave the car at home today or are you offsetting your CO2 emissions in another way? Let us know! 🌍

We get it, it's super easy to export your files to PDF and send them out. 📧 For more than two decades PDF has been with us and it’s a very useful piece of technology. However, there are some downsides to using PDF documents. ❌

📱 PDFs are not mobile friendly. Your design made on a desktop is hard to read on a smartphone, so you have to swipe a lot to read it clearly.

🪜 Several steps are needed before you can open the file. First download > look up > open in another application > read.

📄 A PDF is boring. Let's face it, a PDF is flat and pretty much nothing happens. There is no ability to use multimedia in the file, so there is limited interaction.

💻 Tracking reader engagement in a PDF is not possible. You can't tell which topics your reader found really interesting, which ones not, how long they were on a page and which ones they quickly skipped.

📥 If your PDF is too big you can't just email it, which can be inconvenient, especially if you want to send a large report to your staff.

Sounds like there’s enough reason to switch to online publishing with Greenzeen and it is possible! Soon we will launch Greenzeen and we want to make online publishing much easier. No hassle with too big files, boring documents or difficulty with opening files. 🤩

Soon we will launch our fantastic tool that makes creating an online magazine very easy (and sustainable). Pinterest: if you get stuck at one point, take a look at Pinterest and be overwhelmed by cool (creative) pictures. 📲
Dribble.com: a portfolio of graphic designs by designers. 🎨
Behance.net: like Dribble, this is a collection of designs. You'll be showered with cool graphic work! 💻
Google: everyone's best friend, with a few keywords and clicks you'll get lost in thousands of ideas. 🌐
Previous editions: sometimes the best resource is your own work. Look through some of your previous work and be inspired again. 📖

Write ideas down in your notes. This is always helpful when the time comes to create your magazine. ✍️

Who is going to read your magazine? What do they like to flip through? Empathize what they will find the coolest to look at in your magazine. 📖

In 2015, the United Nations established the Sustainable Development Goals. A call to action to protect this planet and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. 🌎

These Global Goals have not gone unheard at Greenzeen either. With Greenzeen, we are the first online publishing tool to make online publishing as CO2 neutral as possible.
Global Goals that Greenzeen likes to contribute to are:

How do you tackle designing an online brochure? Good question, we'd love to help you out! 🤩

To start the process, it's helpful to check if there is already a paper version of the brochure that you're about to design. That way you can copy most of the layout (if it is still to your liking, of course!). If there is no paper version, you'll have to start from scratch. 📄

Then go ahead and have a brainstorm about what you want to achieve with the brochure and what content it should contain anyway. Make a rough sketch of all the content and how it should be placed in the document.

Also make sure you have all the images and text. This way you can start working on the brochure in one go. 📂

And then it's time to build! Let your creativity run wild and create something beautiful out of it. We are convinced that you can do it! 💪

If your creativity fails you, Greenzeen has wonderful templates that will get you started, so you don't have to do everything yourself. Handy, right? 🙌
