The Kaufmann company was a tropical clothing company for men with branches in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague. They issued establishment coupons in 1849, entitling them to a 25% discount. The special thing about this coupon is that they look exactly like a 25 guilder note from the first issue from 1814. The 25 guilder note from 1814 was no longer legal tender, but it was generally still accepted as such. The newspaper clipping below shows that this note was accepted as such and that 25 guilders was paid out on it. (AUCTION: pls sent your bid by PM if interested)
