DX Headlines this week has a voice again. In addition to that there is also an SSTV image in PD50, with simultaneoously an the same text as the spoken part in PSK125RC4, which is preceded by an RxID Reed Solomon code for auto switching in FLdigi.

In most cases frequency setting has to be around 500 Hz (in case of 512
Hz) to be able to lock the frequency, unless you have 'Searches bandwidth' switched on. This setting can be found in the settings menu 'IDs', RsID.
After Thursday in The Giant Jukebox on shortwave.

This week DX Headlines has two images in PD50.

Copyright info and some text about the images is broadcast simultaneously in MFSK32 at 512 Hz, and after that repeated in PSK125RC4 also at 512 Hz.

Have a good reception!

This week there's no 2nd hour on 9455 on Sunday at 01:00 UTC.
The 1st hour will be with Dave Mason at 00:00 UTC.
Next week we will have our normal schedule

05/07/2024
04/07/2024

This week the first image in DX Headlines is in black and white, in
MFSK64 at 1500 Hz. After that a color image in SSTV PD50.

At the start there is a stream at 450 Hz MFSK32, that contains copyright info and a short description of what's on the photo's. This one is much shorter than the photo streams.

Have a good reception!

This time we put in some extra work to have a more complicated item again.

Three SSTV images, the first two in PD50, the last in BW12.

In addition to that:

MFSK16 at 750 Hz,

THOR4 at 432 Hz,

and Slow Hell at 288 Hz

It is possible that you can see a little bit of moire from the data in the SSTV images. I saw it localy, just a little and when I played it again it was gone. But with the transmitters probably adding some harmonics distortion it might be visible again.

Have good reception!

DX Headlines again has an image in PD50, just like last week and one in BW12. Both are own photo's this time. Made just before I started recording.

This time, I will tell what's in it :)

In the BW12, you see my QMX transceiver, made by QRP Labs. I got it last week, and I didn't even remove the protective plastic of the screen. Which in the real world and even on the original picture is hardly visible. In the BW12 version however, it looks just like the whole screen is ruined. I didn't have time to make a new one, hence this note :)

The PD50 is of my cat Martine. I had pictures in SSTV of her before. Martine is 18 years old, and a bit of a diva as you can probably see in the photo (well, let's hope she hasn't learned to read in the last few months, but she actually is a HUGE diva :) )

Her favorites are, except for some particular pet foods (only) of the highest price class: coconut (not the juice), German Weissen Beer (only without alcohol) and tea spoons full of Tabasco sauce. The latter has a history, which I might some time in the future tell about... But she also is a very sweet and lovable animal :)

DX Headlines this week is a rather simple one: one image in SSTV PD50 and one in BW12 mode. As I have said several times before: the latter will probably not work with one of the Android apps. For PC, I know that MMSSTV and QSSTV will decode BW12 and BW8.
Have a good reception!

This week DX Headlines has two simple streams, one in MFSK64 at 560 Hz, the other in PSKR125C10 (also called PSK125RC10) at 2250 Hz.
The text is a story I recently wrote about the early history of radio in the Netherlands.

Have a good reception!

22/05/2024

DX Headlines this week has three data streams and 6 lo-res SSTV images in bot BW12 and BW8 format.

The streams are in:

THOR4 @ 100 Hz (this probably is the difficult one this week, because of the choice of the frequency)

MFSK16 @ 384 Hz (shouldn't be a problem)

PSKR250 (same as PSK250R) @ 700 Hz (this is a fast one so probably not extremely QRM resilient)

Everything should work with Fldigi or similar. As always with multiple streams there isn't a Reed Solomon code for autoconfiguration.

SSTV works with for example MMSSTV (Windows) or QSSTV (Linux).
Smartphone apps probably won't work with the ancient BW12 and BW8.

Have a good reception!

Peter John

This week's DX Headlines is similar to last week's, but there are some significant differences.

Not everyone had last week's seventh extra stream. This was a bit of a sneeky one: it was on 3600 Hz with Feld Hell. However for this to work you had to change the Fast Fourier settings (FFT processing, in the Waterfall menu item) of Fldigi to a higher max. frequency than it's default setting! For example at 4000 Hz.

This one doesn't have an extra stream (honestly!)

This weeks mode's and frequencies:

256 Hz Feld Hell
800 Hz MFSK32
1250 Hz THOR8
1700 Hz PSKR125 (PSK125R)
2100 Hz Olivia 8/500
2500 Hz MFSK64

Everybody thanks very much for sending reports, and have fun decoding!
73!

This week DX Headlines put in a lot of work to create an edition, consisting of no less than 6 data streams.
Some of them are quite close to each other, but that only adds to the challenge of decoding them all :)
The streams are:
256 Hz Feld Hell
800 Hz MFSK32
1250 Hz THOR8
1700 Hz PSKR125 (PSK125R)
2100 Hz Olivia 8/500
2600 Hz morse code (CW) 20 wpm
Have fun, receiving and decoding them!
