“Rigging is about lifting others—both on the job and in life.” 🙏
For Marcus Muzea, owner of Rotterdam Rigging, his first participation in Sprinting Sophia Rally turned into more than a day of sharing his passion for cars with children of the Erasmus MC Sophia kinderziekenhuis. The experience left a lasting mark! “Driving for more than speed—driving for impact.”

Paired with the lively seven-year-old Casper, who battles a rare condition where his esophagus and windpipe are connected, Marcus found himself deeply moved. Casper has endured numerous surgeries and lives a life defined by medical care. “It’s always these sweet, innocent kids,” Marcus shares. “You ask yourself: why them?”
Despite expecting an exciting day, Marcus was surprised by the emotional depth of the experience. “You see how vulnerable these kids are, and it hits you.” From the very first moment, there was a strong bond. “In the reception hall, I had already noticed Casper. When we were paired, he came running toward me, full of energy.”
Casper reveled in every moment of the ride, but the challenges of his condition were never far away. “At one point, he had a moment of exhaustion. It shows how tough it is for him. His nurse was riding in the backseat for good reason. You try not to get too emotionally involved, but it just happens”, Marcus admits.
Sprinting Sophia is a yearly initiative of Rotary Club Rotterdam-Delfshaven. Apart from a wonderful day for kids of the hospital they raise funds for medical research. The greater part of the funds comes from advertisements in the Sprinting Sophia Magazine, and sponsorships. 🙏
