Listening to this recording we made in All Hallows church, Gospel Oak, in London for Philips Classics with Orchestre Révolutionnaire Et Romantique, The Monteverdi Choir and John Eliot Gardiner. 30 years ago already and one of many intense and wonderful production with this team I was lucky to be part of. Remember that for the off stage drums we place between 3 7 meter stands big canvas sheets (that we still have and use) to separate the sound a bit. Somebody opened the outside door and on the little b&w monitor in the control room we could see these sails catching the wind and slowly falling over. By sheer luck nobody got hit and no instruments were damaged..... John Eliot wanted the choir to move in the sound picture and drew this in my note book. We could this now so much more "spatial". But I still like the result.

Today and tomorrow the Rachmaninoff International Orchestra with maestro Kent Nagano conducting and Mikhail Pletnev playing is going to perform the Rachmaninoff piano conerti and the Paganini variations in the Rosey concert hall in Rolle Switserland. Looking forward as what we hears in rehearsals was already great.

Back in Luxembourg with the OPL and Gustavo Gimeno and the Neumann M-50’s are waiting for my friend Arabella Steinbacher, who will play the mesmerising George Lentz violin concerto. The concert on Friday will be televised by our great colleagues from Polycast (with Mahler symphony no 5), and in the future the concerto will be released on Pentatone.

Yesterday, polyhymnia’s recording team, lauran Jussen, Ientje Mooij and Erdo Groot (with some much appreciated help from Tilman Dasbach) returned from a very intense recording project with conductor Kent Nagano and the orchestra, a collaboration of Dresdner Festspielorchester and Concerto Köln, and a wonderful cast of soloists. We tackled Rheingold by Wagner. All played on period instruments (with some modern hammers)
After our tryout recording of the concert rehearsals it was clear that we had to tame the acoustics of the famous Lukas Kirche. I brought all this canvas and heavy curtains on top of the other big curtains used the firs time too.
Many thanks to Rebekka Jungnickel, Michael Rahtmann and Stephan for their wonderful support.

Proof listening a test pressing. For those of us who have experienced our first music playback via vinyl long playing records, it can bring back many memories. Sounds very good for what it is…. But if this was still our only release platform, no spectral cleaning would be necessary, as any small clicks and noises would be filled in perfectly by the generic and typical lp background noises.

This week the Motion Picture Soundtrack of Il Boemo, the beautiful movie by Petr Václav, with music performed by a number of great singing soloists and conductor Václav Luks and Collegium 1704 is released by Warner Classics.

I am extremely proud to have produced this recording together with Jean-Marie Geijsen both recording in Prague and Como, where we recorded live takes during the music film shoot for the movie.
This was a huge project with wonderful musicians who performed under all kind of extreme (heat in the theatre was above 35 degrees) conditions and with the dedication of ,specially, conductor Vaclav Luks who managed to control all music matters.
Finally 1 hour and 40 minutes of music by composer Josef Mysliveček made it to the release of the over 2 hours of beautiful music we recorded.
I hope you will enjoy these pieces as much I do!
