Better Future joins Dopper Wave!
#thingsthatmadeusbetter
As of today (World Oceans Day), things at Better Future are going to look a little different. We’ve pledged to ban single-use plastic water bottles from our organisation.
In doing so, Better Future has become a proud part of the Dopper Wave. A movement of organisations and individuals alike, all committed to turn the tide on plastic pollution.
Why we're doing this? Because this issue is relatively easy to solve. Knowing that every minute a truckload of plastic waste enters our oceans, and in that same minute 1 million single-use plastic bottles are sold around the world, it's time to do things differently.
With simple, everyday actions, we can save hundreds of single-use water bottles from entering our oceans this year. By simply choosing reusable options and drinking from the tap whenever possible. It's time to take action; and it’s time to play our part in the fight against plastic pollution

‘We did it again’ the third journey of Better Future' s program 'Face The Future’ started on the 2nd of Oct. Below sharing a video and a note from one of our three amazing inspiring facilitators of FtF-3 Noor Anila, Daan Modderman and Salmaan Sana
From sunrise to sunset,
As the day closes, the goodbye’s are said and everyone journey’s back home, we round off our two days with each other. It is hard to believe that it was no more than 33 hours ago that we had seen each other for the first time. It shows and proves what can happen when we enter a space, with an open mind, open heart and an open will, we can connect and change the way we look at our own lives and each other.
Thank you for putting in your time & energy into these days and your constructive ‘inclusive’ nature.
Starting the morning off with a special sharing breakfast, some improvisation and a dance off, which helped us remember each others name a little better, being brought together with your pair (peer), connecting with each other some eye gazing and talking about how to work with each other in the future.
The afternoon was filled with some action planning on your personal challenge, organization challenge and what to get done by the 23rd of November”
Salmaan Sana
A bustling atmosphere, intense conversations, a lot of laughter and dedication to make this world a better, more inclusive place. That was the outcome of 'What if women rule the world?' at Theater Walhalla in Rotterdam. Kicking off with a clip of what our kids think the world would look like if more women would be in charge, Maria van der Heijden, Chantal Korteweg en Uthara Narayanan took us on their journey to make a change for women all over the world and close to home.
We’re proud and grateful for the connections being made, questions asked and sense of energy to take this further.
So how are you going to bring this movement to a next level? Here are 3 options:
-Sign up for a Women United Journey to the Gambia, India or NYC: http://www.womenunited.academy/
-Support Buzz email Uthara: [email protected]
-Call us if you have and ideas how to bring this further close to home +31 343 44 93 00
This is one person to keep in mind, amongst others, because of her beautiful voice, insightful lyrics, bright spirit and human rights activism. Yesterday we were very happy and honoured to welcome the incredible artist Shishani. It is very challenging introducing her, since she is so multi-talented and speaks up for a diversity of topics which are in serious need of attention. The reason for her coming to Better Future came from a fundamental resonance for making a positive impact on the world around us and how we can help and strengthen each other.
"Het Ondernemers voor Ondernemers Netwerk": Oxfam/Novib - Bett...
Ha: “I think that everything is possible if we have the right approach”
Maureen: “At the end, we as a group became so powerful that we could put a result on the table for these people”
Hiep “I am an empty cup of water always willing to learn”
Francois: “Small is better if you do it right! If you give it a face, an identity... a heart […] The whole social enterprise is the product, it is not just the jar. It is the whole concept, that is the product. It is now one where as before they were separate”
Hiep and Ha, the co-founders of “Dragon Vietnam Investment Company”, are helping the farmers in growing ginger and ‘gac’ fruit to help them overcome poverty. We organised a journey taking place in Vietnam, together with Oxfam/Novib, facilitated by our very own Annet Van de Laak, bringing entrepreneurs together and to see how we can help Hiep and Ha and their endeavours.
Sabrina: "A moment that is switched when Hiep and Ha asked us to stop asking questions and share our insights”. This was done by means of using “Systems Thinking” where the current situation was put into place using models and then the ‘ideal’ situation according to what the group had observed and learned on the organisational workings.
The programme is a mix of both working and socialising, bringing about a connection between those following our programme and a local group of entrepreneurs we are contributing towards. It creates space for more acceptance, deep conversations, a heightened awareness and not to mention lots of fun.
