Bindu De Knock, our lecturer in music publishing, copyrights, and contracts, which are key components of our music business and management series for Term 3, is a highly regarded music lawyer, author, and musician with a background in music production. This unique combination makes her an ideal candidate to teach these essential topics at the Institute. Beyond her distinctive qualifications, she excels at articulating key concepts for monetising music in practical terms.

One of the standout features of her classes is her practice of inviting industry contacts to share their insights on navigating the music business, including handling relationships with labels, managers, contracts, and financial matters. Last month, she invited talented artist/producers Eva Simons and Noam Ofir aka Soul Supreme to discuss their experiences and challenges within the industry. Earlier, she also brought in Jelle Keizer, A&R manager at Revealed Recordings, the label of DJ/Producer Hardwell. We believe that learning from real-life experiences and having the opportunity to ask questions is invaluable for our students.

In an interview with Downtown Music, cellist and ‘90’s kid’ The Wong Janice talks about her love of pop music, dabbling with the guitar, getting piano lessons before finding her instrument, and learning improvisation. Renowned lecturer, mixing and mastering engineer and producer MarcoAntonio Spaventi will lead a session titled "Perspectives and Interpretations on Mixing and Production." In this workshop, Marco will guide you through working with a professionally mixed multitrack of an existing song, showing you how to reinterpret and remix it into something new, fresh and exciting.

Our talented students, who are nearing the completion of their studies, along with several graduates, will be at the legendary Rockfield Studios, famous for its legacy with artists like Queen, Oasis, and Black Sabbath.

They’ve already pre-produced a track in class and are now teamed up with the accomplished producer Matt Butler to turn their vision into reality. This opportunity is not just a milestone in their education; it’s also a chance to work in a historic setting. Matt Butler is an accomplished music producer and mixing engineer with an impressive track record, having collaborated with iconic artists like Paul McCartney, Rush, and Mick Jagger.

🎸 Mastering Guitar Magic: An Afternoon with Legendary Producer Attie Bauw ⭐️
Last November, the Amsterdam Guitar Heaven Event at the Q-Factory featured over 70 brands and 20 engaging workshops. During the event, we hosted a special session with renowned producer Attie Bauw and talented guitarist Bram van den Brekel. Recognized for his collaborations with Racoon, Kane, Scorpions, and Judas Priest, Attie shared valuable insights into studio guitar recording and intriguing behind-the-scenes tales from his experiences with major artists.

🇸🇬 Global Classroom: Singapore Meets Amsterdam for a Live Mixing Masterclass 🇳🇱
In early November, we conducted a special workshop for students at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore . The session was live-streamed from Studio 1 and led by senior lecturer Anthony Maes. The students had submitted multiple multitrack to stereo mixes, which Anthony reviewed. Throughout the stream, he offered feedback and shared useful tips and tricks for the students to enhance their mixing and production skills.

Our students in Amsterdam also participated, connecting with aspiring engineers and producers from around the world.

By utilizing both Zoom and , participants on both ends of the stream could engage and exchange their ideas and viewpoints.
