As part of our music business and management module in the final term, our part-time students at Abbey Road Institute Amsterdam recently engaged in the fundamentals of financial planning with Andreas Oszkiel. This module aims to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset, which is essential in the music industry. This particular lesson specifically focused on adequate cash flow management for starting new creative ventures in music.

During the lesson, Andreas encouraged students to explore the intersections of music production, financial information, technology, and entrepreneurship. As an expert in using AI for research and the COO at Scitodate, he seamlessly integrated this topic into the session. Students learned how to leverage several AI tools, which assisted them in gathering and analyzing financial data to support their future business plans.

In a hands-on, practical setting, students explored the intersection of music production, technology, and entrepreneurship. Using real-world examples, Andreas showed how AI can simplify financial planning and help overcome the intimidating “blank page” syndrome. We’re excited to see how the next generation of music professionals apply these skills in their own creative careers!

follow your passion!

Can’t believe I’m writing this but last week I was selected to attend a song writing camp with Abbey Road Institute Amsterdam 🤯. So grateful to have been handpicked to write and pitch music for labels and artists. Songwriting has always been my biggest passion in life and to land this opportunity is a dream come true. In May i had a snapped guitar, a hernia and many other not such great things going on in my life. One thing it’s taught me though is to keep going, keep grinding and keep pushing. Never give up on your dream kids. So looking forward to this opportunity which starts this afternoon! 🤩🤩

Last August, our senior lecturer, Anthony Maes and our technician, Luca Milozzi, hosted a workshop in studio 1 for the wonderful people at Chordify, an online music-education service made for and by music enthusiasts that transforms online music into chords for various instruments.

Some of their team members are highly skilled musicians, and as part of the workshop, they came together to form a band. They rehearsed a song, which was recorded under the guidance of Anthony and Luca.

This was a fantastic example of team building in a professional studio environment, where everyone had the opportunity to learn about the recording process and how to handle a professional recording situation. With wonderful feedback from the participants about our team and a fantastic recording to take home, it was truly a successful day. Thank you to for your trust and to the participants for their participation and excitement.

An interview with Nick Ribbens

The role of a music producer is often misunderstood. Producing music doesn't necessarily make you a music producer; it makes you a music maker. A true music producer wears multiple hats, and making music is just one of them. At Abbey Road Institute Amsterdam, we are fortunate to have Nick Ribbens, a prime example of what it means to be a music producer.

We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with him to discuss his unconventional entry into the music industry, his daily routine as a producer, and his insights into the evolving landscape of music production.

Our students recently had a lesson from Bindu De Knock from about Music Publishing. Bindu is not only a music lawyer but also a producer and musician with a background in sound engineering. Our lecturers are truly one of a kind! 😇 As part of the lesson, she brought a guest to share practical, real-life experiences. Noam Ofir, a musician, artist, and songwriter based in Amsterdam, also known by his artist name , was her guest.

Noam shared his journey and experiences in the music industry with the class. He emphasized the importance of having a lawyer when releasing songs and working with labels and other artists.

The students found his insights very helpful and had lots of questions. We want to thank Noam for sharing his journey with our students and Bindu for enhancing the lesson with this valuable experience.
