As we sit down to write this post, our hearts are heavy with a bittersweet mix of sadness and excitement. It’s hard to believe that after all these years, we’ve made the difficult decision to sell The Dreamers and move on to our next adventure. As we reflect on the journey that brought us here, we’re filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the moments, the people, and the places that have become a part of our lives.
When we started The Dreamers almost 13 years ago, we had no idea where this journey would take us. We were young and naive, with little business experience and even less knowledge about making films. But what we lacked in expertise, we made up for in passion and dedication. We poured our hearts and souls into every film we created, driven by a deep desire to capture the beauty and emotion of life's most precious moments. It was something special.
And oh, the moments we’ve captured. The laughter, the tears, the joy, the love. We are honoured to have been a part of so many couples' special days, and we're humbled by the trust they placed in us to document their stories. For so long, we enjoyed it só much. We've traveled to breathtaking places, met incredible people, and experienced the magic of true love firsthand. And we got to experience it together - first, as boyfriend and girlfriend. Later, as husband and wife. And through it all, we've grown as individuals and as a couple, learning important lessons about life, love, and the human spirit.
But as with all good things, our time at The Dreamers had to come to an end. For us, it was the realisation that we could no longer maintain a healthy work-life balance. With two young children and no real support system in place, we found ourselves struggling to keep up with the demands of the business. Our perfectionism, while a driving force behind the quality of our work, had also become a hindrance to our personal lives. We were missing out on precious moments with our loved ones, sacrificing time and energy to perfect our edit. We found it increasingly more difficult to shoot a wedding together, which went we had to rely more and more on our dedicated second-shooter, Tommy. And while this was always good fun, it wasn’t what we had intended for when we started The Dreamers. And slowly but surely, the joy we once felt for our work was fading.
As we bid farewell to The Dreamers, we are thrilled to announce that our dedicated second-shooter, Tommy, has purchased the company from us. It brings us so much joy to see someone as passionate and talented as Tommy take the reins and bring The Dreamers to new heights. He has been with us for a while now, capturing beautiful footage and helping us to create stunning films for our clients. We see so much of ourselves in him and we have no doubt that he will continue to create films that touch people's hearts and capture life's most precious moments.
The idea of our brand not just ending, but getting a new start with Tommy, fills us with pride and happiness. It's like watching your child grow up and find their own way in the world. We can't wait to see what the future holds for The Dreamers under Tommy's leadership, and we know that the passion and dedication that we poured into the business will live on through him.
Tommy is not just a talented videographer, he is an amazing person. He has been so good to us and we know that he will treat The Dreamers with the same love and care that we did. We are honoured to pass the torch to him and we can't wait to see how he will make The Dreamers his own.
As we close this chapter and embark on our next adventure, we do so with a full heart and a deep sense of gratitude. Thank you to all our clients, collaborators, and supporters who have made The Dreamers the incredible journey that it has been. And to Tommy, we wish you all the best as you continue our legacy and create new memories for couples around the world.
With love and gratitude,
Yaël & Hugo
