Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant just rewarded the new album of Théotime Langlois de Swarte with a 5-star review!

'Why would you again release music that has already been recorded a billion times? Because your version adds something to the range. Baroque violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte and his Orchestre Le Consort show that you should never stop listening to The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi.' According to Maartje Stokkers.

Gisteren heeft 'Cantorias' een Edison Jazz gewonnen!

De cantorias Anna Serierse, Nina Rompa, Lilian Vieira en Femke Smit, aangevuld met fluitist/saxophonist Lucas Figueiredo Santana, Breno Viricimo, Daniel de Moraes en Udo Demandt, brengen een aanstekelijke mix van Brazilaanse zon, samba, close-harmony en een typische sound van de jaren '70/'80.

Een stukje uit het juryrapport:

Ondersteund door de sublieme band zijn het bij Cantorias de vier zangeressen die in elk nummer weten te raken. Allen zeer actief in eigen projecten, laten ze op dit album horen hoe goed hun stemmen in de verfijnd opgenomen close harmony bij elkaar klinken. De vocalen smelten samen alsof de dames al hun leven lang samen zingen, en maken Cantorias tot een zeer indrukwekkend debuutalbum en een uitbundig feest om naar te luisteren.

'Liebe Amalia' is een album over het muzikale leven van Anna Amalia van Pruisen, dochter van Frederik Willem I van Pruisen. Het boekje bij het album geeft een prachtige inkijk in haar bijzondere leven!

In De Gelderlander is een prachtige recensie verschenen van het album 'Liebe Amalia' aan de hand van Maarten-Jan Dongelmans: Opgewonden st***je besluit ‘Lieve Amalia’.

Voor verzamelaars van door vrouwen geschreven muziek is dit een hebbeding. Maar liefhebbers van 18de-eeuwse salonmuziek zullen deze nieuwe cd van Harmonia Mundi ook graag in hun bezit willen krijgen. Het album Liebe Amalia... bevat immers niet alleen werk van de zus van Frederik II de Grote, koning van Pruisen, maar ook van haar leraar Kirnberger en de gebroeders Bach, twee van haar beschermelingen. Dutch blog Opus Klassiek just published a smashing review about the latest album of Belgium period-instrument orchestra Anima Eterna!

Today Brazilian double bass player Matheus Nicolaiewsky released the first track of his new project! Accompanied by guitar player Yotam Silberstein and percussionist Kiko Freitas, 'A porta' is a smooth relaxed jazzy track.

Many of you already know Matheus Nicolaiewsky from his collaborations with Dutch/Brazilian singer Josee Koning and Ivan Lins! (Check out their album too! Recommanded for those who love the sound of people like Astrud Gilberto.)

Another exiting release today comes from Dutch violin player Merel Vercammen and pianist Dina Ivanova! It’s a stunning piece by composer Joey Roukens called 'Sarasvati'.

'Sarasvati' is an old Sanskrit word originally meaning 'that which flows' or 'river': it was the name of both a mythical river in ancient India and a Hindu goddess, who was originally a personification of this river but who later developed into the Hindu goddess of knowledge, learning and music. The goddess Sarasvati is still worshiped today in Asian countries such as India and Indonesia. When writing this piece composer Joey Roukens had the image of a flowing river in mind, a river which flows quietly and peacefully at first, but then gradually becomes wilder and rougher. The musical material also makes use of certain Eastern elements (which may sometimes remind the listener of Indian or Indonesian music), hence the title 'Sarasvati'. In the course of thirteen minutes, the piece thus gradually progresses from a lyrical and serene kind of music to an ever more joyful and virtuosic ecstasy.
