A loyal partner of the ONDIF (Orchestre national d'Île-de-France conducted by the wonderful Case Scaglione) for some years now, Simone Lamsma is without doubt one of the most talented violinists of her generation.

The charisma of her performance of Sibelius’s Concerto in D minor dazzled the audience at the Philharmonie de Paris in 2020. Captured right after in the studio, here it is restored in all its boldness and singular sensitivity.

Jean-Marie Leclair is the father of the French violin. His concertos combine virtuosity and elegance. Stephanie-Marie Degand leads her ensemble La Diane Française in a masterful performance of these complete works, capturing the essence of the French Baroque style. This triple album, her fourth for NoMadMusic, is part of an already rich and acclaimed discography, testifying to her dedication to exploring and sharing the treasures of the violin repertoire.  

Btw... Did you know that there is a Dutch link? From 1738 till 1743 Jean-Marie Leclair stayed in Leeuwarden in The Netherlands (In this period he went to Amsterdam where he studied with the famous Pietro Locatelli!).

New release alert! Ramon van Engelenhoven plays Ramin Amin Tafreshi!
Prelude for Piano is an exploration of mysterious harmonies and alluring melodies. Composed shortly after Ramin Amin Tafreshi moved to the Netherlands, the work draws its emotional depth from his personal experience of immigration. It stands as both a reflection on that transformative period and a “prelude” to a chapter yet to come. Throughout the piece, thematic and melodic material intertwine in a persistent ambiguity that carries from the opening bars to the final chord, which offers no definitive resolution. The work was premiered at Het Concertgebouw by the Dutch pianist Ramon van Engelenhoven.

23 augustus is het weer zover: Het Prinsengrachtconcert! Traditiegetrouw presenteert mezzosopraan Maria Fiselier ook deze muzikale avond. Vanwege het 750-jarig bestaan van Amsterdam is de hoofdgast Amsterdam Sinfonietta. Samen met muzikale vrienden John Holiday (zang) en Lucie Horsch (blokfluit) zal het ensemble verrassen en ontroeren met bekend en onbekend werk. Natuurlijk sluiten we, traditiegetrouw, af met 'Aan de Amsterdamse grachten'.

Om alvast in de stemming te komen, heeft Maria Fiselier 'haar' 'Aan de Amsterdamse Grachten' uitgebracht. Een akoestische versie samen met accordeonist Robbrecht Van Cauwenberghe!

In het NRC van 23 mei wordt het debuutalbum van Juho Myllylä beloond met 5 sterren!
Juho Myllylä bespeelt wel tien soorten blokfluiten op zijn nieuwe plaat: een verrukkelijk kleinood.
Ook in De Volkskrant (22 mei) staat een prachtige recensie!
Tien verschillende blokfluiten mét elektronica: blokfluitist Juho Myllylä zoekt de waanzin op

Herder's Herd is het debuut soloalbum van blokfluitist en veelzijdig musicus Juho Myllylä. Op Herder's Herd laat Myllylä zijn passie voor de blokfluit en de eindeloze mogelijkheden van zijn instrumentenfamilie horen aan de hand van nieuwe werken die voor hem zijn geschreven door zes jonge componisten uit verschillende landen.

De muziek op het album, gespeeld op tien verschillende blokfluiten van subgrootbas tot sopranino en met of zonder elektronica, varieert van energiek en gedurfd tot verstild en sereen en roept betoverend mooie en soms zelfs wilde klankwerelden op.

The 'First Lady of Jazz' Rita Reys (1924-2013) started her singing career at the age of 16. That career took her on tours through Europe and later also to America. There she sang with the well-known musicians Dizzy Gillespie, Lester Young and Jimmy Smith. Reason enough for a tribute! And now one more: the Dutch Jazz Archive recently found original arrangements by arranger Oliver Nelson (1932-1975) of the sparkling album that Rita Reys recorded in 1965 together with Nelson. This album now has a worldwide cult status, if only because of the star line-up that plays on it. The Jazz Orchestra will now perform this music for the first time together with contemporary Dutch jazz vocalists Fay Claassen, Anna Serierse & Esther van Hees.
The first single from this fantastic album is out now!
The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw will present this program 'The Second Time Around' at North Sea Jazz 2025!

Since his first performances as a tenor saxophonist in the 1970s, Ab Schaap not only came to be an early contributor to Dutch jazz history, in the following decades he also showed his versatility as a composer and an educator. Some of the finest musicians in the Netherlands (such as Rob Van Bavel, Jan van Duikeren) now have gathered in a septet playing Ab Schaap’s compositions and arrangements. “Real Jazz” lingered in bop and swing tradition, a feast to the ear, an invite to the feet.

Aankomende zaterdag is het Franse topkoor Les Cris de Paris te gast in Het Muziekgebouw aan het IJ!

Tussen land en water, Oost en West, pracht en melancholie, spiritualiteit en drama ligt Venetië: heerlijk vagevuur tussen vele werelden. Hier bundelden vonkjes van vernieuwing zich steeds weer tot hoog oplaaiende vlammen. Met werk van de grote renaissance componist Monteverdi brengt Les Cris de Paris een prachtig gepassioneerd programma waarin geestelijke en wereldlijke muziek elkaar afwisselen. De verschillende magnifieke zettingen van het Crucifixus lopen als een rode draad door het programma.
