In 20 minutes from now we start a marathon 6 hour - 4 x 90 minutes sets of Yannis Kyriakides piece Mutability in the Muziekgebouw as part of the Holland Festival ....we are 12 musicians each with our own separate stage/cage - I say cage because it does feel like we are animals in a zoo ...the structure of set and colour is determined by an algorythm but we decide what we play ( luckily) ....it will be intense ...audience can walk around freely or sit down ....
Ensemble Oihua will perform RAW by Anne La Berge as part of The Day of the Composer in The Netherlands at the Batarvierhuis in Rotterdam tonight June 15, concert starts at 20:30. We are super happy to see this great piece will be performed again on stage!

"Hypnokaséta (2020-2021) is a continuous set of 16 pieces for string quartet, improviser (playing cassettes and any instrument) and live electronics. The source material is based on dreams that I had during the first few months of lockdown, April-June 2020. Accounts of these dreams are encoded in the music that is played by the quartet and also encrypted in the sound textures that surround this. The pieces alternate between quartet as the foreground and electronic interludes, where solos or duos underpin the soundscape. The title of the piece (Greek for ‘sleep-cassette’) refers to a theory of dreams proposed by Daniel Dennett, that says that dreams are loaded into consciousness like a cassette tape during the night and played just before waking." It is beautiful to see the love people, composers, musicians and friends have for Phill Niblock, who was a generous soul in art and life. We learned of his passing just hours after delivering a new unsounds CD release of two of his works "Looking for Daniel" for production. Two gorgeous pieces performed by Modelo62 with Scordatura ensemble and Biliana Voutchkova, that we are releasing in collaboration with Echonance Festival. Phill Niblock never stopped making music - we feel honored that we had a chance to work with him on this precious project.

In Werner Herzog’s cult film Fitzcarraldo, a tragic hero sails the Amazon blasting Caruso records across the jungle to drown out all birdsong. The absurd ambition and the tenor's extraordinary voice are the backdrop to Fennessy's musical obsessions.
Caruso (Gold is the sweat of the sun) is David Fennessy's second piece in a trilogy inspired by Herzog's masterpiece. This release comes on the occasion of the performing of his Conquest of the Useless in Glasgow with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra on Saturday 4 November 2023.
This is a pre-release of the album CARUSO coming out on March 5 2024

Andy Moor and Anne-James Chaton continue their conversation with a new set of digital singles, exploring the worlds of the traditional metiers. The Handmade series is an homage to craftsmanship through a playful study of the lexicons specific to bakery and pastry making, jewellery, joinery and wrought iron making, that will unfold over the course of 4 thematic volumes. With guest Yannis Kyriakides on electronics they create works where abstract notions mix with tangible ones by linking the arts of the hand with sound and poetry.
Handmade Volume 01: DOUCEURS revisits the vocabulary of pastry making. Side A “Garniture” offers a curious anthology of poetry written by mixing the actions of the pastry chef, units of measurement and figures of speech. On Side B, “Sur Mesure” deploys all the richness of the culinary language when it comes to expressing the scarce or the plentiful.
