The news and entertainment media have been platforms that encourage the negative depiction of migrants. An example is the different ways the news describes the Middle East migrants and the Ukrainian migrants. Due to such remarks from the news, society is influenced by the way they think of different migrants. But this should not be the case, as Lara wrote:
"Right to life is the most basic human right, it should not matter which country we are from – we are all human."

The media, actors, and the world were shocked when Will Smith appeared on stage and slapped the comedian Chris Rock.
Many different opinions were expressed, some defending, others condemning the actor’s actions.
In the end, Will Smith resigned from the Academy Awards, and was banned from participating for 10 years by the organisers. Is this enough? Or is this whole situation exaggerated?

🍝 A restaurant in London is now hiring Italian (grand)mothers as “Chefs-in-residency”! They can now proudly showcase their cooking skills and their local cuisines in the UK.

🔋 Scientists have discovered how to rid water from Lithium particles after use! This will allow particles to be reused, lowering costs and environmental impact of lithium battery production in times where Lithium is in high demand for electric cars.

According to the World Health Organisation, 39 million children under the age of 5 were overweight or obese in 2020. But according to their website, obesity is preventable. Which probably was what some British scientist must have taken as inspiration to advise the government with. The advice: Simply put calories on menus, so people stop eating.
But what about other eating disorders?

Mark O'Neill is a comsci alumnus who now teaches at the UvA. Last year, while Mark was writing their master's thesis on how queer employees come out at work, they founded the Queer Communication Library. Originally a student-run, grassroots project, Mark and their team curated a reading list of communication (science) literature that focuses on LGBT+ topics, samples, and methods. Now, Mark is working on promoting inclusive education within the department by promoting the library as a useful tool for students and researchers. [https://bit.ly/queer-cs]
