2024.

It’s been a year of growth but not like the years before. My gratitude goes out to all the places i’ve played at and all the good souls i’ve met. My appreciation goes out to all that continuously support me and has been a part of my growth so far.

There is also some great dissapointment. I have ‘finally’ got a taste of how a true hater operates. How some might wish the best for you in your face but will do anything to bring you down when you’re not around. I’ve encountered true racism in the so called regulars gossip groups and yet it taught me so much about patience and proved me that the biggest strength you can have as a human being is to keep striving within positivity and keep doing what got you here in the first place. People that know me also know i have a very short temper when it comes to racism and injustice, so i would be lying if i would say that keeping quiet is the easiest thing to do. My purpose has never been to just be a dj, get my money and go in and out, on to the next one. From day 1 i’ve looked into ways how to connect my people, our scene and how i could contribute positively to this industry.

Eerste Communie was never a party to create exclusivity but to create safer spaces for likeminded souls and to stay true to our very first crowd who helped us build what we’ve become today. It’s about loyalty and unity. My rapid paced rhythms are not just to be fast but to align with my inspired heritage and to push their strength forward, to educate myself and my surroundings with history of my black culture. I still dance on the dancefloor not to show off but to feel what you feel and to keep that true passion from where it all started.

I will always be Jessey before i am MARRØN. A human being who cares about another human being and wishes nothing but good energy for other people. I have never looked for validation from the outside world and neither will i do now but i do care as a human being should so i will always speak up and let my voice be heard.

2025 will be promising and we keep moving forward with positivity and unity only. Much love and strength to all of you!✊🏽❤️

Last mix of the year will be for the beloved .official which will be my second for them. Thank you for having me once again!

I’ve recorded this mix on 144 bpm. My focus for this set was to create a trance within the simplicity. Finding depth and flow throughout the full two hours with subtle transitions like it’s one long story. Low end rhythms with a lot of movement to keep it sexy and physical but never shying away from the power.

The 10th of October, the day of the Marrons. A forced community that existed out of resistance. Resistance against the colonial rule of The Netherlands to work as slaves. By fight and resistance they succeeded to slowly freeing up enslaved from the cities and are a big reason of eventually ending slavery in general.

On this day, the resilience, freedom, and culture of the Marrons are celebrated with traditional music, dancing. I am honoured i will be able to play during this special day and carry these people’s mindset into today’s life. Do not accept oppression under no circumstances.

The reason i get to live free as a black man in these years of life is also because of them. So So Lobi nanga Krakti. ✊🏿❤️

I only needed one day of South Africa’s nature to recover from the past weekend and to get ready for the next. There is something about the deep ocean and mountains that grounds me as a human being. The purity of the untouched views are nearly impossible to explain in words. Balance in life is not always given, sometimes we need to push ourselves through boundaries to reach a certain level we strive for but do not ever forget your ME time. When you’re your best YOU it reflects on everything you do and touch around you.

I want to take a moment of appreciation and shine light on one of the most passionate and dedicated people in our industry. This is Ali and he is the stage manager of Lehmann klub in Stuttgart.

I have played at Lehmann quite some times now and Ali is just tremendous at what he does. Besides his kind and warm personality he makes you feel extremely comfortable while playing. During my set i reached to my bag to grab some chewing gum and literally as soon as i reached down i saw a subtle flashlight shining on my bag, it was Ali as i looked back. All i could do is just laugh and shake my head in disbelief of how aware he was and this is one example out of hundreds.

The spotlight is mostly shining on collectives, clubs and artists but in order to do what we do, we must not forget the people who are making our job more comfortable.

Without Ali the booth wouldn’t be as good as it is and without him i might not have been able to play the way i play, so a million thanks to Ali and all the passionate people working in the industry that are contributing in whatever way to make the best out of what we do. We are all needed and connected to deliver a good night and/or day.

Basketball made me the person i am today. The discipline needed, the teamwork needed to succeed, to look at another person flourish and to be genuinely happy for another, how to handle adversity, reflect and to turn it into a healthy motivation. Far before i started playing, this dancefloor of Berghain influenced me in many ways for who i am today as a person. Connect with music and dance wild without feeling watched or judged, completely free and united with likeminded souls who do not have to say a single word to understand what you’re feeling. No matter the background, religion, ethnicity or sexuality. I will never take any opportunity to play here for granted. After 11 hrs playing i am still capturing what happened this night. It was really perfect. Full house from the start and still full at the very end of extra time. My gratitude for every single person that made the effort to join me. I will forever be thankful for this amazing night.

Never stepped in this game to be liked by everyone. Fully understand the differences of musical taste and there is no right or wrong in that. Not comparing myself to nobody and just focusing on how i can positively effect our industry musically, culturally by just doing what i love to do. I will never shy away from my integrity and the music that i love to play. If i lose that than who am i? In a pretty white dominant industry a proud black man might get portayed as arrogant and distant while being approachable. People might want to see you shine or want to bring you down but you can’t break a man who does not seek for validation from the outside. Straight up appreciation for the ones supporting and still much love for the ones who do not. Soso lobi nanga krakti.
