The Damba is a traditional dance festival celebrated by the Mamprusi, Dagomba, and Nanung people in northern Ghana. It is deeply tied to the Islamic calendar, taking place on the 10th day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. Damba festivals feature drumming, songs, and energetic dancing as an expression of gratitude to Allah and the ancestors. Damba dances are performed by men and women. Wow!
It is my greatest happiness to thank God and all the people of the North-East Region of Ghana, especially the leadership of the north-East musicians union for recognizing my contribution to the entertainment industry in the region, thus setting the pace for the youth in the art and culture within the region, Ghana and the world. My deepest gratitude goes to the hardworking leadership of the Union, (the president- Ras king Lawal, Chief Deimmah Naa and many industrious persons who hold potions in the union. It is unforgettable to mention Mr. Abuba Jabah, Mr. Osuman Haruna and all other members of historical Jabah Digital studio (the first studio in the region). It would have been impossible without your vision and hard work. In fact, you are all the best and also ‘Real People’. It is very important to thank all the JDs, bloggers, video directors and Radio stations in the region for your continuous support, your work is much appreciated. Mr. English man and director Anas, I encourage you to continue your good works.
I wish to take this opportunity to encourage business men in the region to study this multi-million dollar industry and invest in the potential talent within the region to make endless profit in the digital business world and also get the greatest platform to promote our culture.
My best advice for the youth, is for them to think creatively in all other fields they find themselves. They should also take their education very serious, whether formal or informal/vocational. I emphasis that, the youth should think outside the box and try to take their musical talent worldwide to obtain sustainable incomes and have a bigger opportunity to promote our culture worldwide. Massage in their music should stimulate more positive society.
