Our documentary Writing Hawa had an amazing premiere at IDFA last month, winning the FIPRESCI Award (the film critics’ prize) and securing fourth place in the Audience Favorites. But now, the real impact begins.
💙

This film is more than Hawa’s story, it is the story of many Afghan girls and women. That’s why, wherever the film travels, we create intimate gatherings where Afghan diaspora share a meal, watch the film, and talk about how to come into action for girls and women in Afghanistan.

These conversations are led by trained Afghan moderators, and we collaborate with Afghan organizations in each country to connect and strengthen their communities.

We’ll kick off this initiative in the Netherlands starting January 2025 and expand to other parts of the world from there.


We also believe it’s essential to spark global conversations about women’s rights in Afghanistan. To do this, we’re organizing special screenings for decision-makers around the world.

Gister hadden we weer onze halfjaarlijkse ‘impactlunch’. Dit keer op het

Daar bespraken we de professionalisering van impactproductie met makers, producenten, fondsen, omroepen, het ministerie en dit keer ook de Raad voor Cultuur. Goed om te zien dat het groepje steeds iets groter wordt!

En dit keer hadden we ook echt nieuws, want de lunches leveren iets op! We konden vertellen dat aan de slag gaat als kwartiermaker om te verkennen wat de mogelijkheden zijn van een kunstenbreed impactfondsen én we lanceerden de nieuwe impactproductietraining Impact Lab, waarbij het idee opkwam om dat te laten dienen als impactproductie kenniscentrum en makelaar. Veel om over na te denken!

De officiële lancering van Impact Lab op het Nederlands Film Festival!

· Wat is Impact Lab?
Een 9 maanden durende training voor Nederlandse impactproducenten bij álle soorten non-fictie verhalen. 12 deelnemers krijgen de praktijk van impactproductie van A tot Z aangeleerd. Start: maart 2025.

De deelnemers volgen 4 workshops, lopen een traineeship en ontwikkelen en pitchen zelf een impactstrategie. Ondertussen bouwen ze het nodige netwerk op: van verhalenvertellers en impactorganisaties tot NGO’s en financiers.

It’s been a bit quiet on our side, because there was a lot going on!

• Renko started the EAVE Producers Program in Luxembourg, with two more weeks to go later this year. Big thanks to !

• had his first days of filming for his new documentary ‘How long?’

• and Renko went to Copenhagen for to watch some great films and get inspired, at the invitation of

• led a three-day training together with and as part of the Take On Film & Impact program at where projects from all over the world started their (first) impactproductions

• .salari2 and took part in the Impact program at Movies that Matter with our beautiful co-production ‘Hawa,’ and we even won a prize for our Impact Pitch, thanks !

• Our co-production film from premiered at with attending in Leuven

• We celebrated for receiving the DDG award from the for his film My Father, Nour and I. Also congratulations to and all the crew!

• Renko is now in Suriname 🇸🇷 with filming four episodes of !

Every year, we host an evening where we invite all the directors we partner with on their films. It’s like a mini reunion in our cozy office. This year, while enjoying the food of our familiar favourite

It is always so great to see everyone together, taking the time to reflect on the past year and share updates on the documentaries in progress. It’s moments like these that make us realise how lucky we are to work with such incredible people.

Yes! The people we’ve trained to become moderators for the aftertalks of our film My father, Nour, and I, are now ready to kick off.

They completed their final workshop last Saturday, guided by .shirzad and our very own

We were moved to see how they’ve embraced the film en we are excited to share it with the world.

Ahmad: “Growing up in a closed Arab community, I understand the struggle of not expressing my emotions. Now, as a moderator for this film, I aim to create a space for people of all backgrounds, especially those with an Arab heritage, to openly share their feelings.”
