Around Christmas time in Sweden, one of the biggest celebrations is St. Lucia's Day (or St. Lucy's Day) on December 13th.St Lucia was a young Christian girl who was martyred, killed for her faith, in 304. The most common story told about St Lucia is that she would secretly bring food to the persecuted Christians in Rome, who lived in hiding in the catacombs under the city. She would wear candles on her head so she had both her hands free to carry things (she han her eyes put out and was stabbed to death). St. Lucia's Day is now celebrated by a girl dressing in a white dress with a red sash round her waist and a crown of candles on her head.The crown is made of Lingonberry branches which are evergreen and symbolise new life in winter. Schools normally have their own St. Lucia's and some town and villages also choose a girl to play St. Lucia in a procession where carols are sung. A national Lucia is also chosen. Lucias also visit hospitals and old people's homes singing a song about St Lucia and handing out 'Pepparkakor', ginger snap biscuits. People hang stars with holes in them in front of their windows. It's to remind people of the star o Betlejem that the 3 wise men followed in their search for the baby Jesus.

The prompt of the second day is a Witch. Another reference to perimenopause. Women of a certain age can become very cranky. That's normal with the sleepless nights, the 🔥 flashes and moodswings. It's very hard to stay the good witch while burning in- and outside.. All those stress hormones racing through the body, changing things. Stress has always been a mood killer, but now it's paramount to stay chill and relax, even when the Hot Flash Devil comes to poke you.

In the Prose Edda book Gylfaginning, Hel is described as having been appointed by the god Óðinn as ruler of the realm of Niflheimr. It also details that Hel rules over vast mansions with many servants in her underworld realm and plays a key role in the attempted resurrection of the god Baldr.

I hope that 2023 will be a personal upgrade for everyone. 2022 was a bit meh. The days of Covid ending were eclipsed by war in Europe, energy crisis, people being less kind to each other, despite initial euphoria of things getting back to normal after two years of uncertainty. It's like there's a dark force lurking in the shadows and I think the only way to conquer it, is if we will stay cool, in control of our senses and in communication with each other, in spite or regardless our differences. To do that, we should all reconnect with our nature and find happiness in the true thing that binds us all; the simple truth that we are all human beings. Let's don't forget that we all want the same thing; to be healthy, loved and understood. Hail to you all!
