Watch Dead Pixel ingenuity in action in our Behind The Scenes film for “Wear Wool, Not Waste” and learn about how the film was created, directly from the talented wizards of VFX themselves!
To pull it off, the team wisely created a highly accurate pre-visualization and meticulously-detailed plan of action before going to Cape Town to shoot the film. Once on set, the team made sure to make a LIDAR scan of each location so that all the clothing collisions and shadows would appear correctly.
What made this film especially amazing was the mix of virtual and physical techniques to simulate the movement of clothing. For instance, the team built this “reverse vacuum cleaner” that could rapidly shoot piles of clothing onto set. Practical components like this were crucial to add realistic digital effects later on.
Congrats to everyone who worked on this amazing project!
