We’re rescheduling the postponed Cinema of Belonging Event series on Sunday 25 February as a day-long festival programme, with three film screenings and a dinner. Join us in MACA for a day of celebration of the richness of Armenian cinema, while supporting families of Artsakh displaced in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. All proceeds of the Cinema of Belonging events go to the Artsakh Relocation Project. About Hello It’s Me:Despite it being heavily influenced by the new Moscow film wave of the 1960’s, Frunze Dovlatyan’s 1966 Hello, It’s Me is not just an Armenian classic, but a truly quintessential Armenian film. Very loosely based on the life of the founder of Armenian physics Artem Alikhanian, Hello, It’s Me conveys the quietly heartbreaking story of a Soviet-Armenian scientist called Artyom, who even after achieving great success in his field, cannot shake off the heavy burden of memories of his beloved Lyusya, whom he lost to the frontlines of World War II.Learn more on our website. This form-bending early masterpiece by Atom Egoyan set in Armenia poignantly explores questions surrounding identity, diaspora and social belonging. The restored edition of Calendar will be screened with a video introduction by the director himself, alongside Harutyun Khachatryan’s short documentary White Town.
