ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has led dignitaries in the state to laying of wreaths in honor of the Nation’s fallen heroes as part of the grand finale marking the twenty twenty five Armed Forces Remembrance Day
The event which held at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola Wednesday was attended by personalities, serving and retired soldiers as well as widows of the personnel who paid the supreme price.
Others that laid the wreaths included Speaker State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, State Chief Judge, Justice Hafsat Abdurrahman, Lamido Adamawa Doctor Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha and service commanders and others.
Governor Umaru Fintiri had on arrival at the venue of the event inspected a guard of honor mounted by personnel of the Nigeria Armed Forces in commemoration of the day celebrated across the country.
In an interview with newsmen shortly after the event, Governor Fintiri urged Nigerians to continue to pray and support the country and widows of the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
Governor Fintiri commended the officers and men of the Armed Forces for their sacrifices in protecting the country’s territorial integrity.
While decrying the security challenges facing the country, Governor Fintiri called for collective efforts to address them and reiterated that peace and unity are essential for development.
Highlights of the event were offering of special prayers, observing a minute silence and firing a three gun salute in honor of the fallen heroes as well as releasing of pigeons by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to signify peace.
Armed Forces Remembrance Day is celebrated on fifteen of January annually to honor gallant members of the Nigeria Armed Forces who died in the line of duty and those who are still serving at various peace operations nationally and internationally.

FootballMatch: Adamawa Governor's team lashes Brigade Commander's team
In an effort to mark this year's Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Adamawa state, a football competition was organised between the State Governor's Team and Brigade Commander's team at Jimeta Stadium, Tuesday.
The game saw key personalities of the Adamawa state government, consisting of Honourable Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen etcetera in Fresh Air regalia performing magical touches on the pitch.
During the second-half of the game, the Honourable Commissioner of Works and Energy Development, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar scored a goal against the Brigade Commander's team through a penalty shot. This, unequivocally, made Hon. Atiku 'Man of the Match'.
The ended with 1:0 against the Brigade Commander's team.

23-year-old man h@cks his father to d3ath in Delta
A 23-year-old man identified simply as Success has h@cked his father to d3ath with a cutlass in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident occurred in the Amukpe area of Sapele on Sunday, 12th January 2025.
It was gathered that the suspect k!lled his father for refusing to give him N5000.
The father was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment where he d!ed on Monday, January 13.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident said the suspect has been arrested.
“The incident occurred on Sunday but the father d!ed Monday. Success is in custody,” the PPRO said.

Suspected Yahoo Boy Beheaded 24-Year-Old Abuja Corps Member, Packed Dismembered Body In Sacks

Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a suspected Yahoo boy, identified as Ajayi for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Salome Enejo for rituals.
The State’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the development to Daily Post Nigeria on Monday, said the suspect was rescued from being lynched by an angry mob.
According to Nansel, the suspect was rescued by police operatives attached to Karshi Division.
Mr. Nansel noted that after the suspect was rescued, he led the police operatives to his residence where the dismembered body of the young lady was recovered.
“On Sunday evening, police operatives attached to the Karshi Division rescued one Ajayi from an angry mob that had beaten him to pulp.
“A sack containing a fresh human head was subsequently recovered from him. A follow up investigation led Police operatives to his room where dismembered human body packed into sacks were recovered.
“The suspect has been taken to the hospital for treatment. The victim was later identified to be one Salome Enejo, a 24-year-old resident of Nyanya Abuja and a serving corps member. The Commissioner of Police has ordered an investigation into the case,” the police spokesman said.
The suspect was caught with a fresh human head in Agwan Sarki, Orozo, a boundary area between Nasarawa State and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT on Sunday, multiple reports claimed.

Governor Fintiri Charges Traditional Rulers On Transparency, Accountability

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri charged the newly appointed traditional rulers to work closely with district and village heads by ensuring that transparency and accountability remain at the core of their leadership.
Governor Fintiri gave the charge Monday when he met with the newly appointed traditional rulers of the recently established Emirates and Chiefdoms at the Government House in Yola, also urged them to lead with integrity, fairness, wisdom, and accountability.
The interaction with the monarchs is the first since their appointment, urged them to avoid tribal and religious sentiments in their domains, emphasized that their primary responsibility is to serve the people diligently and inclusively.
The governor advised the monarchs to thoroughly study their territories and traditional systems to enhance their understanding and leadership capabilities and cautioned them against the abrupt giving titleholders, insisting on adherence on the established guidelines and thorough security checks to avoid bestowing titles on individuals with questionable character.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to their welfare, the governor highlighted the crucial role of traditional rulers in bridging governance gaps, improving security, and bringing government closer to the grassroots, called on them to romptly report sasuspicious activities or shady characters to appropriate authorities for necessary action.
He called on the monarchs to leverage their experience and expertise to support the government in delivering good governance and urged them to enforce regulations banning indiscriminate tree felling for charcoal production.
Governor Fintiri then announced dates for the coronation of the new monarchs:
- Fufore: 5th February 2025, 10:00 AM
- Yungur: 6th February 2025, 10:00 AM
- Gombi: 8th February 2025, 10:00 AM
- Maiha: 13th February 2025
- Hong: 14th February 2025
- Madagali: 19th February 2025
- Michika: 20th February 2025

The Ptil of Madagali, HRH Dr. Ali Danburam, who spoke on behalf of the new monarchs, expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for his vision and courage in creating the new Emirates and Chiefdoms. '
He pledged that the traditional rulers would lead with honesty, dedication, transparency, and fairness, supporting the government in its quest to deliver good governance and serve the people.

Senator Abdul’aziz Yar’adua, representing Katsina Central, has presented N50,000 each to 23 families who lost officers in the state recently during an attack, amounting to N1,150,000.

Yar’Adua in company of the Deputy Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon. Abduljalal R***a, paid a condolence visit to the security forces of Sakai over the loss of 23 security agents on January 7,2025 to a terrorist attack in Kwantan Bauna, Baure town, Safana Local Government Area.

Yar’adau in a statement said Safana, like many parts of Katsina state has faced reoccurring attacks from bandit groups targeting vulnerable communities.
The statement reads in part: “The Senator’s visiting team on Saturday 11, January 2025, which included the Chairman of Safana Local Government and the candidate for the office of Chairman of Batsari Local Government, visited the families and relatives of the deceased security personnel, as well as the Emir of Ruma Hakimin Batsari, to offer their condolences.

“In a show of support, Senator Yar’adua presented N50,000 to the families of each officer who lost their life in the attack.

Youth Council Kick As Unknown Gunmen Kills 7 Rural Dwellers In Karu

7 persons have been confirmed dead and several others sustained different degrees of injury in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State following an attack by yet-to-be identified gunmen.
The incident occurred in Tattara community, Panda District on Saturday night, a statement issued by the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, has said.
Dr. Onuk Oji Galadima, the Chairman of NYCN in Panda said the tragic incident has left the community devastated and in a complete state of grief.
Onuk who condoled with the families of the victims enjoined the country’s security agencies take swift action in order to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
“This senseless attack on innocent unarmed citizens is unacceptable and must be condemned by all.
“As we demand concrete steps from the government to ensure safety of our communities, we also call on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities and not to take law into their hands.
“Furthermore, we request adequate support and assistance for the affected families and community.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Tattara and other villages affected by similar incidents,” the statement issued on Sunday reads further.
Efforts to reach the security for comment over the tragic incident proved abortive at press time.
