NAWOJ BAYELSA WISHES YOU ALL A HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎊🎉

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Bayelsa State Chapter wishes all Nawojians and the people of the State a happy new year.

Chairperson of NAWOJ Bayelsa, Mrs. Grace Orumieyefa and Secretary, Eyal Ikisikpo on behalf of members of the Association expressed gratitude to God for seeing her members through 2024 despite the high cost of living and other challenges witnessed across the Nation.

The leadership also thank God for a peaceful reign as this present Executive members of the Association have successfully run its first two year's in office with a commendable measure of support from committed members and stakeholders.

According to Mrs. Orumieyefa, 2025 begins with very fresh promises as NAWOJ Bayelsa believes that this new year will surpass the out gone year and prays that God's Grace and wisdom will be sufficient for all to achieve their desired goals and aspirations.

It hopes that everyone experiences a wonderful 2025 full of sound health, peace, happiness, success, breakthroughs, promotions and progress.

While thanking Nawojians for their support last year, the Nawoj Chairperson also appealed to members to work collectively with its leadership to achieve set goals hoping that the year would be quite eventful and fulfilling.

Mrs. Orumieyefa on behalf of members also, appreciated the Prosperity administration led by Governor Douye Diri, Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Erudjiakpo, wife of the Governor, Dr. Gloria Diri, Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha, General managers of Bayelsa state Broadcasting Corporation, Mr. Terrence Ikise, Radio Nigeria Creek FM, Mr Sunday Udosen, People's FM, Mrs. Adeeko Tokunbo, Royal FM, Mr. Ebizimor Jumbo Fish, NTA Yenagoa, Madam Dauju White, NDTV, Mr. Frederick Fabor, Nuj zone F secretary, Mr. John Angese, former Nuj chairmen, Mr. Samuel Numonegi, Mr. Tarinyo Akono, CEO, Ebiere foundation, Mrs. Maria Olodi-Osumah and other stakeholders who supported NAWOJ to make last year a success.

She prayed for more support for the development of the Association, the State and society at large.

NAWOJ urged citizens and residents of Bayelsa State to support Governor Douye Diri led administration to facilitate the development of the State.

NAWOJ BAYELSA FELICITATES CHRISTIANS AS THEY CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Bayelsa State Chapter felicitate Nigerians, especially Christians, as they mark this year’s Christmas celebration.

The Chairperson, Mrs. Grace Orumieyefa and Secretary, Eyal Ikisikpo, in a statement, notes that Christmas is a time to keep in touch, show love and care as well as receive and send blessings.

While acknowledging the beauty of connecting with loved ones which goes beyond merry making, it urges them to use the Christmas and New year holidays to extend hands of fellowship to the less privileged in the society.

The statement enjoins Nigerians and members of the association to pray for the nation in order to overcome the challenges bedeviling the country.

NAWOJ Bayelsa, equally advises members that would be embarking on a journey to stay safe, avoid reckless driving and be security conscious at all times.

At the congress held on Thursday, 12 December, 2024, a Bye-Election to fill the vacant post of Secretary of the Association was conducted.

Recall that some months back, the Secretary of NAWOJ Bayelsa, Mrs. Tekinyo Theophilus resigned her position to contest the NUJ election in the State Council.
Following the NUJ constitution, the Chairperson, Mrs. Grace Miebomi Orumieyefa, asked members if the Assistant Secretary, Leeya Eyal Ikisikpo should assume the position of Secretary.

Mrs. Doris Francis Eniekezimene moved a motion for the Assistant Secretary Eyal Ikisikpo to take the position of the Secretary and Imelda Abidde of Radio Bayelsa Chapel seconded the motion.

Subsequently, Congress moved for a BYE-ELECTION for the position of the Assistant Secretary.

Mrs. Chinyere Ebiere Nikade of Information chapel nominated Deintei Delight Emmanuel of Information chapel and was seconded by Janet Twonmute of NDTV chapel.

Members congratulated the new Secretary and her assistant, urging them to keep the flag flying.

CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Bayelsa State Chapter, has congratulated Comrade John Angese for a well-deserved victory in the just concluded Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) National election.

In a statement, NAWOJ Chairperson, Mrs. Grace Orumieyefa and Acting Secretary Eyal Ikisikpo, particularly expressed satisfaction over the election of Comrade John Angese as the Zone F Secretary who have occupied that post before, doubled as the Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Bayelsa State Chapter.

The statement notes that Comrade John Angese posseses the qualities required to be at the helm of affairs to bring his wealth of experience gathered in the various offices held over the period to impact positively in the NUJ.

According to the statement NAWOJIANS in the State are happy about the choice of Comrade Angese and urged the elected officers of the Union to work in synergy with other members in the discharge of their duties to usher in a vibrant and resource oriented Union in the nation.

Also, the Association congratulates Alhaji Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi on his election as the President of NUJ, the first female Deputy National President of NUJ, Dr. Mrs. Abimbola Oyetunde, Zone F VP, Opakamabo Dokubo and all other winners.

NAWOJ Bayelsa expresses the Association's readiness to support and partner the new NUJ National executive in order to achieve the desired goals of the profession.

It prayed the Almighty God to grant the new executive wisdom, guidance and protection in the discharge of their responsibilities.
