ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: ABRAKA DESERVES THE DELTA CENTRAL SENATORIAL SEAT IN 2027
_ Ernietalks (Ernie Nosa Alile)
For over two decades, Abraka, an industrious and politically active community in Delta Central has watched from the sidelines as other blocs rotate power among themselves with calculated precision. Yet, we are expected to vote. We are expected to mobilize. We are expected to stay loyal. But when it comes to representation, Abraka is treated like a political orphan. This injustice must end.
We are not a minority. Abraka is one of the most vibrant sub-clans of the Urhobo Nation, with a population that rivals and even surpasses some of the communities that have long enjoyed political privilege. Home to Delta State University, Abraka is an academic hub that attracts intellectuals and professionals from across the country. We have produced leaders, scholars, technocrats, businesspeople, and thought-leaders yet we are told, silently and subtly, that we are not āripeā for leadership? That is false. That is wicked politics.
The Facts Speak for Themselves:
Since 1999, no indigene of Abraka has held the Delta Central senatorial seat.
Major federal and state appointments continue to elude us, while other blocs enjoy an uninterrupted pipeline of patronage.
During every election cycle, Abraka delivers massive votes for winning candidates but receives little to no dividends in return.
When itās time for zoning or rotation, Abraka is mysteriously invisible; but when itās time for voting, we become visible pawns.
This is not just marginalization; it is political injustice. We are tired of being seen as a mere voting base. We are tired of being used and dumped. We are tired of watching less populated and less organized communities decide our future while we watch in silence. The silence ends now.
2027 is the turning point.
The Delta Central senatorial seat must rotate to Abraka. It is only fair. It is only just. If we claim to believe in equity, fairness, and inclusion, then no argument can justify the continued sidelining of Abraka in the political scheme of things.
Let it be known:
Abraka has capable hands.
Abraka has proven leaders.
Abraka has the numbers.
Abraka has the will.
And this time, Abraka will speak with one voice.
To those who continue to play the politics of exclusion, hear this loud and clear: we are no longer asking for recognition; we are demanding it. The game has changed, and Abraka is no longer willing to be ignored.
To our brothers and sisters across Delta Central who believe in justice, we say this: support the Abraka project. Today itās us, tomorrow it could be you. The time for balance is now. If democracy is truly about representation, then the people of Abraka must be represented in the Red Chambers come 2027.
