There was a man called Bello.
Outside his house, Bello was known as a very generous man.
He gave money to friends.
He helped people in church.
He bought gifts for neighbors.
Everyone praised him.
But inside his house, it was different.
His wife had no money for food.
His children went to bed hungry.
They wore old clothes while Bello was busy helping others.
One day, his little daughter said,
Daddy, you help everyone, but you forget us.
Those words touched his heart.
Bello realized that kindness should start from home.
From that day, he took care of his family first,
then helped others.
Peace returned to his house.

The officer made a call for backup.
As we waited, the man who had broken down the door stared at Mike.
I know one of the women, he said suddenly. She escaped.
My heart jumped.
She’s alive?
He nodded.
She ran from a similar hotel months ago. She was terrified, but she told me a man kept trying to force her into something called ‘the box.
Mike closed his eyes.
Where is she now? I asked.
Safe, he replied. And ready to talk.
The officer turned to Mike.
You built a network of fake love.
Mike didn’t answer.
The man continued,
She said the men who do this pretend to be rich online. They choose women who believe in love.
Tears burned in my eyes.
That was me, I whispered.
Suddenly sirens sounded outside.
The officer placed cuffs on Mike’s wrists.
It’s over, he said.
Mike looked at me one last time.
You ruined everything, he said quietly.
I met his eyes.
No. You did.
Outside, justice was coming.
But inside my heart
I knew the truth would still hurt.

My father didn’t speak to anyone that night.
He locked himself in his room.
By morning, the whole house felt different—quiet, tense, waiting for something to break.
At breakfast, he finally came out.
“I want the truth about the hospital money,” he said calmly. “Now.”
My stepmother stiffened.
What hospital money?
The money that saved my daughter’s life when she was seventeen, he replied. You said we were broke. But someone paid. Who?
Silence.
My stepsister looked away.
I spoke softly.
I never knew who paid, Daddy. But they have been using it to threaten me.
My father’s face hardened.
“Answer me,” he said to my stepmother.
Her voice shook.
I I borrowed it.
From who?
She hesitated.
A man I knew.
My father’s eyes narrowed.
A man or your lover?
The room exploded.
My stepsister gasped.
Mummy!
My stepmother started crying.
I did it for us! For our future!
For whose future? my father snapped. Yours, or my children’s?
That was when the truth came out.
She had taken money from another man and used my sickness as an excuse then turned it into a chain around my neck.
My father stood up slowly.
You will leave this house, he said. Today.
My stepsister screamed.
You can’t do this!
But he didn’t look at her.
Some lies are so big
they don’t just break relationships.
They break people.

The Women Who Never Came
The hotel was silent.
The broken box lay inside the coffin, dark and lifeless.
Mike sat on the floor, staring at it like he had lost everything.
The officer turned to him.
Tell us the truth. Now.
Mike didn’t speak.
Then the second man the one who had forced the door open stepped forward.
I’ve seen this before,” he said quietly. Not here but in another city.
I looked at him.
What do you mean?
He hesitated.
Women were getting married then disappearing. Their families never got answers.
My heart dropped.
The weddings looked normal,” he continued. But no one ever saw the husbands’ relatives.
Suddenly everything clicked.
The empty chairs at my wedding.
The strange hotel.
The coffin.
Where are they? I whispered.
Mike slowly raised his head.
They didn’t d!.e, he said. They were used.
Used for what? the officer demanded.
To activate the box, Mike replied. Each bride made it stronger.
Tears filled my eyes.
How many? I asked.
Mike’s voice was barely a whisper.
Sixteen before you.
The room felt heavy.
I realized then
Those women were the real ghosts in that coffin.

Mike stared at the glowing box like he was under a spell.
If you accept the ritual, he said quietly, my family will be saved. If you refuse everything we worked for will disappear.
The officer shook his head.
You can’t force her into this.
The whispers rose again, circling the room like invisible wind.
Choose, the voice repeated.
I looked at Mike the man I thought I loved.
Was any of this real? I asked.
He hesitated.
That was all the answer I needed.
I choose myself, I said firmly.
The light flickered.
The box inside the coffin began to crack.
Mike shouted, No!
The whispers turned into a loud wind.
The coffin shook violently.
Then suddenly
Everything went quiet.
The glow faded.
The box inside split into pieces.
It was over.
Mike dropped to the floor.
The officer turned to me.
You’re safe now.
But deep inside, I knew
This wasn’t the end.
